Hi Bluebell - I think I've read it is possible for the other tube to pick up the egg from the opposite side.... so all may not be lost when you ov from the side with the missing tube. It seems things are alot more flexible than the diagrams show.

GOOD LUCK for the future.

Sorry to hear that bluebell. We were all initially very excited for you and I hope you have good news in the future.

I hope this helps - my sister had an ectopic pg and lost a tube as well and eventually had a dd after a long period of ttc. She fell pg again by accident soon after her dd1.

Good luck for the future.

Thanks for everyones kind words... I think my chemical preg are down to one thing. I only have one tube and I seem to have a chemical preg everytime I ovulate from my right ovary which is where the tube is missing due to a previous ectopic. I am lucky because I know when I am ovulating and generally know which side, plus I have kept a diary as we are due to see a speciliast and its taken us long enough to get this golden opportunity so I am making sure I am fully prepared. The biggest worry is that every month when I ovulate from my left hand side where I have the tube, I am not falling pregnant and this makes me think that maybe my left ovary is not working at all which would result in me never getting pregnant without IVF.
I just feel like it is so unfair, one of my friends had an abortion last week and as much as it is a woman's right to choose I could have scratched her eyes out for being so ungrateful but then that was probably my hormones!

My Af has arrived and it is definitely a chemical pregnancy because of the pain and sickness I have suffered.

Thaks again for your kind words x

With my chemical pg I had faint pg tests, tested each day for 4 days to check , but they didn't get any stronger-had hcg tests at the hospital and hcg wasn't anywhere near doubling (2 days after 1st BFP and 4 days after), then following hcg test 6 days after the mw phoned and told me that my af would be starting imminently, lo and behold, about 8 hours later it did. During this time my hcg only got up to about 60, so was really low and therefore didn't have far to fall to normal.
Hope this helps

Hello I was just wondering if you have a chemical pregnancy how long do the hormones take to get out of your system? I had what I thought was my af two weeks ago but on tuesday had same type of bleeding as in early preg last time so took a test and BFP I went to GP thurs as still spotting and he said to do another test and I get the results on monday. I couldn't wait that long so I did one today still BFP but seemed fainter (still came up straightaway also different brand). When I had MC last time at 11 weeks I was told would take 3 weeks for system to clear of hormone so I had thought I had MC again and the BFP was just what was left in my system. But after reading this thread I'm not sure whats happening now.
Bluebell I'm so sorry I hope you have some good news soon.

Thanks for that. I have had 3 miscarriages but later on but it sounds just as upsetting to have a chemical pregnancy or very early miscarriage.

yes a chemical pg is one where the egg fertilises, but where it doesn't implant (possible due to a "defect" etc). I had a bfp at 4 weeks, hormone levels didn't rise very much, then m/c at 5 weeks.
They are very common and many people don't realise that they've had one, unless they are frantic testers like us, who then have to face the heartache of what follows!

Oh Bluebell I am so sorry for you, I hope you get some answers when you see the consultant. xx

a chemical pregnancy i think is when you test positive but then a few days later your af comes? they are basically very early m/cs and lots of people have them without realising because they don't test for pg until they are a week or so late. correct me if i am wrong.

Bluebell really feel for you-know what you mean about AF, my one from Chemical pg was actually much more painful than my first m/c!

thanks furryfox.. it is such a shame but at least I didn't get too exciting, I am getting used to the anti-climax.. I just know I will have the mother of all af's arriving soon.. I am always late when I have a chemical preg.. I am just sick to death of it, but thankfully the consultant that I spoke to at Bupa about going private because I was sick of waiting for the NHS to 'decide' to refer me is actually the one I am seeing on the NHS now so he has a good background on whats been going on .. things like are never easy but it will happen when it is right, just shouldn't waste so much money on tests!!!

Bluebell - I'm so sorry, I can't imagine how frustrating this must be for you. I don't really know much about chemical pgs I'm afraid. Am glad you've been referred and hopefully they will be able to help. WIshing you lot's of luck.

I am back.. sadly I have resigned myself that yet again I have had another chemical pregnancy, still no af today and I am usually like cloak work but had another neg test this morning. I don't know what to think because surely if I was PG I would get a BFP today.. I am going on the assumption that I have ovulated from my right side this month which is where I have no tube.. I am only ever getting BFP when I ovulate on the right side so they can only result in a chemical pregnancy.. this is only me trying to be a GP but we have been referred so I should find out what is wrong with my broken body soon enough

Soprry missed the end

A chemical pg would still trigger pg tests but some are a lot less sensitive than others, and wont register as soon

Can you get yourself a clearblue digital? theyre pretty sensitive

Agree with fifi. If you took two tests yesterday and they were both positive then I expect you really are pg and the test you did today just wasn't as sensitive

Report
bluebell82 · 13/04/2007 11:48

do you think, I am worried now but don't want to test again yet.. dh says I have to wait until AF is late!!!

You can get a false negative but not a false positive, if youve had positives before then id say your pregnant
