Does anyone believe in a tilted womb?

Diagnosed as having a tilted womb as a result of a forceps delivery by an arvigo massage therapist. Does anyone believe that this could be a reason for not conceiving? Or am I potentially going to be conned out of hundreds of pounds for an abdominal massage and a load of old cobblers? What do you gals think?

I have a tilted uterus. So does my mum. She has 4 DC. I just got my bfp. No pain with smears.

It is No Big Deal.

I have one - told during a scan for cysts in my twenties as had acne. Have not had issues conceiving but tend to use doggy/lying on your front to do so!

Mine is tilted. No problems conceiving or giving birth.

I have a tilted uterus, and have conceived 3 times, carried to term twice. Both were forceps deliveries, and I do get bad period pains in my back, but aside from that and initial scans ending up being internal, I've had no issues with conception.

Massage treatment to 'correct' it = a con.

I have a tilted womb, conceived 2 of my dc at quite literally the first attempts. All were term babies, optimally positioned, straightforward labours and deliveries.

Agree with AttilaTheMeerkat - I have a retroverted womb and got pregnant no problem, had a cs but that was because baby didn't turn - would have been no problem otherwise. Smears are a nightmare but never had real period pain so go figure :)

I have a tilted womb and 3 DCs. I was not aware it was supposed to be a factor in infertility.

I was diagnosed with retroverted uterus once I was pregnant so had conceived fine. Mine didn't correct as pregnancy developed, so DD was never able to engage ended up in LOP presentation and all kinds of trouble.

all i know is that my tilted womb makes internal examinations, scans and procedures very painful so you will know if you have got one and personally i would think i should hold babies in there easier if its tilted in the opposite direction!

I have a retroverted uterus & have conceived 3 times. I've had two vaginal deliveries, one a homebirth. Sounds balls to me.

Cnix,

I would rethink your visits to this person as there are a lot of charlatans out there who are after your cash.

Many women only themselves realise they have a retroverted uterus when they are themselves pregnant; they were unaware beforehand.

This person is in no way qualified to make such a pronouncement; do not be fooled. A retroverted uterus cannot be moved and also does not normally cause fertility issues.

I have a seriously retroverted uterus. I conceived and carried two of my dc with no issues. I experienced preterm labour and delivery with my first child, cause unknown.

My sister has a tilted womb and it's disintegrating but she still managed to conceive (the most beautiful nephew I could've hoped for actually!) I can't imagine massage would do anything for it so save your money.

I feel pregnant twice (after only one go) with a tilted uterus. In my experience it's not a problem!

I've got one too and so has my mum. I have 3 children and have had 2 miscarriages. I only found out I had one during the 2nd miscarriage in January. Even when I used to have to put my fists under my bottom when having a smear nobody said anything.

I agree, don't waste your money.

I've got one too, I have to lie on my side with one leg up for a smear test...nice... I've had 3 normal pregnancies/vaginal deliveries.

Dont waste your cash.

It's very common. A variation of normal. I think it's 1/5 of us. It just means that when not pregnant your uterus tips backwards not forwards. The position changes to "normal" once the baby is big enough to distort the uterus. And then returns to its tilted position after recovering from birth. I was told that women with retroverted uteruses (uteri?) report more period pain.

My mum had this after giving birth to me- very traumatic birth
She had tried to conceive for 5 years
Had a small procedure, and she conceived straight away

You know, I think mine might have self corrected, because I used to get period pain in my back (because of the tilting apparently) and now have it in abdomen. There are other really gross reasons as well, but I won't go into those!

Report
Puringmary · 06/06/2014 21:23

Mine is tilted and never been a problem. Two dcs and two deliveries within realm of 'normal' (one induced, not much fun, one natural, much better).

I am a wee bit sceptical of massage costing £00s to 'fix' it.

If it's any help nurse told me I had tilted womb during smear and my mum told me she has one too. I have one child and she has 4 so don't think it can cause too many problems!

I think you're being conned!!

I have a tilted uterus, it's quite severe, found during a scan during my first pregnancy. No probs conceiving, I've had 5 full-term pregnancies and two (non-related) miscarriages. The only thing I will say is that I think the positioning of my uterus could have affected the positioning of my babies, hence very difficult back-to-back labours resulting in c-sections or ventouse.

I've been told several times that it doesn't normally affect fertility, and it can't be moved (and doesn't have to be).
