Duofertility? Anyone tried it?

I've been knocking round these boards for the past 15 months ttc #2 and have read it all (manuka honey,Cbfm, smep, tcoyf, temping, pregnacare, giving up booze)

I have managed to get pregnant but unfortunately ended in ectopic and tube removal so we're now back at square one although obviously worse as I'm a tube down :(. :(

I am now lookingz into buying the duofertility monitor from boots...it's £500 so not cheap but you get your money back if you're not pregnant within the yr and I feel I need to be doing something rather than just bonking away every month legs open, fingers crossed style.

Anyone tried it? I'd love to hear your thoughts and experiences.

Thanks in advance.

1 and a half years on, how did you all get on, if I may ask?
Am TTC since 2 years and have read this whole thread with great interest.
Hoping at least some of you got your BFP!

Hi maples - heres a link to a ladycomp or babycomp website. It is easier than temping, in that instead of having to remember your temp and chart it (I use fertility friend for free), it has an alarm, you put the thermometer end in your mouth and go back to sleep or whatever. The device then has lights red, orange and green that tells you if you are potentially fertile, fertile or non-fertile. It also on the day it calculates you ovulated the light flashes. I found it very accurate and found it very easy to use and it was less of an overall interference to my sleep on the days that I wanted to go back to sleep, and it acted as an alarm clock for the days I had to get up. Really I wish I could afford to buy it having used it.

iloveberries - I hope that the holiday does the trick and you don't need to spend the money when you get back! Have a good time.

Yes. I will have a think about it. I know I could just dtd every other day from end of af to day 25 or something but when you've been ttc a long time all that sex doesn't sound as appealing as it did 18 months ago!

I will - thanks.

I guess whatever the issues are with it, people who use it seem to get pregnant. Of course that might happen anyway but who knows?

I will call them later today and maybe get it when I am back from holidays - don't fancy sunbathing with a sensor in my arm pit!

Hmmmm........ I think it's worth giving it a go then. I just wish it could be easier than this, don't we all!

maples it is interesting that you're duof coincided with ewcm. Ewcm would be a much cheaper way to do it I guess.

I think I will call again and hopefully speak to someone a bit more helpful!

I used the duo fertility as part of a fertility trial. I used the duo fertility, babycomp and opk's for 6 months. I think that overall it is no better than temping properly yourself, but does take out the hassel of it all (ie having to wake to take your temp at the same time each morning).

I had difficulties with the duo fertility in that I react to elastoplast, and despite using their ultra sensitive stickers, I still had a rash reaction. So I ened up using an armband at night.

While I was using the duofertility I got pregnant twice (miscarried both times).

I would say that even having regular cycles, if you have not done BBT temping before (or are fed up with doing it, as I was). AND you have the money, then go for it. It will help confirm whether the opk/cbfm are giving accurate information too (for me opk's do not work well)

I liked the babycomp too, despite this not having a money back guarantee, it can be used for natural contraception methods after any babymaking time is finished. It is a device well used in other countries, just not here. I would (if I had the money) buy the babycomp instead for this later use for contraceptive purposes.

I had good support from the duofertility "fertility expert" teams, sorry to hear you did not have a good response from them.

Interesting maples

At the moment I get af 14 days after my peak on the Cbfm so I do think its right but I guess it's not gonna do any harm.

Think I will sleep on it!

Found that temping and using fertilityfriend charting worked well for me. Low cost.

Hey Berries if £500 is money you can spend without worrying then go for it.
I'm not being funny but I know it money I couldn't just spend. But if you can then good luck and I hope it works.

Hi maples, I dont remember you recommending it but if you did then definitely don't apologise! My cycles are between 30-34 days and I of between 15&19 according to Cbfm. Can you explain a bit more what you mean about the duof giving different results to Cbfm? We did every other day from day 10 day 20 usually but maybe I am missing something.

The £500 doesn't bother me too much - we're lucky we can afford it. I do understand why they don't give money back if the pregnancy doesn't deliver a full term baby at the end of it.

I suppose I am at the point where I will try anything, especially now I am left with one tube only.....

Another point is that the moneyback guarantee only applies to getting pregnant, not staying pregnant.
I miscarried in March, got a monitor in May,didn't realize that I had just conceived after my first AF when I started using it, miscarried in June but since I hadn't conceived while using it was told it didn't affect the guarantee.
I ovulated 14 d after the miscarriage, though the monitor didn't confirm it till a few days after.I had conceived again but am now sadly in the process of miscarrying.
The information I got from the monitor had no bearing really on me conceiving, though I knew the date of conception more accurately than I would have otherwise and I got an email suggesting I do a preg test from my temp readings.
The advice from the team can be useful, and I have got a list of things we should look into testing for if we want to investigate my recurrent miscarriages. However, if your cycle is regular and you dtd ev 2 days from end of AF it should cover the right time I suppose without being told when to dtd.
I knew I wouldn't qualify for the full refund now but had the impression you could return the monitor for a partial refund, as we're not sure yet what we're going to do I emailed to enquire today but was told there are no returns.

And also with CBFM there is a second hand market. Even though I bought a second hand CBFM I'm still buying the sticks from Clear Blue. Clear Blue are still making money from me.

From what I understand you have to return the DF to them when you get your refund. Not sure what happens when you get pregnant though.
