Chances of a positive, then 3 negative results on digital pregnancy tests?

I have another thread going alongside this about my late AF but this is a new kettle of fish altogether...

AF was due on Saturday but she still hasn't shown up. Last night my worrier dh went to Tesco and returned with a twin-pack of Tesco brand digi tests.
First one was a resounding 'pregnant'
Second was a disappointing 'not pregnant'. But I only did them an hour apart, perhaps there wasn't a good HcG concentration??

Anyways....after the BFN, I then drove to Tesco's and returned with a twin-pack of Clearblue digi conception ind tests. Did one of them last night - BFN. (90mins since previous test).
Did one this morning - BFN. (3 hours after last test).

Could the HcG not had time replenish? Or am I deluding myself into thinking it's possible? (I am crazy broody but dh not so much...)
I thought dh was being very careful as (TMI ALERT) he never ejaculates inside me and he always 'finishes' with a condom (though he puts this on near the end).

I should add that we are not TTC as ds2 (dc3) is only 9m old!!

Oh goingmad thank you for your kind words :)

I'm still trying to get brave enough to talk to him about it....found that I may have a pair of allies here tho as dd and ds1 are both asking for a baby sister (as if you can choose) and they both want bunk beds but dd only wants then if she has a baby sister. Thinking if a way to use this to my advantage Grin

Thanks ever so much!! xxx

cherry it's not selfish, and when you speak to oh you may be surprised, our boys wind my dh up a treat so thought the last thing he would want is a baby but when I brought it up he was like yeah let's go for it :)

Good luck for the future and enjoy the 3 dc you have for the time being Grin

Aaah it's ok blue, I'm not too :( about it. Just a teeny bit.

No Phil and Teds needed after all yet Grin

Am trying to come up with a strategy for bringing up the subject of TTC#4 with dh. Thing is tho he's planning a holiday abroad next year for all of us. Would be tricky with xyz-mth old baby.

I'd be happy to go and stay with my mum at her house in Skegness for a fortnight, it'd certainly be cheaper but it sounds so very ungrateful. All he wants is for us to have nice things (I'm a SAHM), he works very hard.

Might have to get over myself and move on accepting that I have 3 beautiful kids and that should be enough! Too many obstacles.

I know I was halfway to believing it myself goingmad, was too scared to really believe it tho....too good to be true and all.

Hey Marzi thanks for popping over :). I'm ok, not as disappointed as I thought I'd be, just need to find the courage to talk to dh now. How on earth do I raise the subject??

Thanks again!! If all goes well with dh I shall be back on the conception threads in tthe next few months! :)

Thanks Sparkle :)

There's hope yet.....!

(although I'm practically convinced now that I am not pregnant. Probably just some freaky cycle sent to depress me and scare dh!)

A bit :( about it all, but mostly still Confused. Since I got the desirable 'pregnant' test I can't get it out of my head.... If I'm not pregnant then I foresee many 'talks' with dh :)

Hi cherry I got a very feint line on my test about 10 mins after testing and got negatives after that until about three days after when I got a BFP with DD. They say you never have a false positive, so who knows. I was 7 days late untl I got a passable line.

Good luck and keeping fingers crossed for you.

Hiya Belly, I was already late before I started testing. I wouldn't have started testing at all if it wasn't for dh being all panicky and buying those Tesco digi tests. I was expecting a very clear 'not pregnant' as we've been using contraception. Usually there's no arguing with the word 'pregnant'....

Hi cherry, I have no real experience of this - my suspicion would be that because the positive lines showed up late they were evaporation lines - and as soon as you started stressing about it, it affected your hormones and made you late. If I was you I would try and forget about it til the weekend, if still no sign of AF, then do a test, but I suspect doing them so often and getting such mixed results is only going to confuse you.

Good grief sounds like your Doc is either a) very insenstive and can't be arsed
or
b) having a bad day! Twazzock!! Angry on your behalf!

Really hoping either AF turns up or I get a few clear and obvious BFP's.
The waiting is driving me crazy, feel like I'm on the 2ww :)

Hi cherry I haven't bought another FR...going to wait until the weekend and treat myself to a digi. Went to docs earlier (already had an app as was expecting to ask about ever lengthening cycles but got my bfp so thought I'd go about that instead) anyway...doc totally useless and v insensitive!! I excitedly showed her the tests and she said my lines weren't dark enough and that she didn't want to waste anyone's time by filling the form in and that i should test again next thursday and go back and see here then...and then shewed me out the door Shock Angry I was pretty upset tbh but have managed to pull myself together and get into work somehow!

Really hope you get some answers soon cherry am sure your doc would be nicer than mine but might be worth waiting until next week when you've hopefully either got a clearer/more consistent bfp or totally awol AF!

Thanks everyone. Are Tesco's tests just really crap then? Seems theres quite a few people had bad experiences with them, well when I say bad I mean mixed/confusing.
I think my brain is in overdrive from it all. I keep hoping to see a positive, then feel really bad cos I should be hoping for a negative with dh not being too happy about baby #4...

Hopefully the internet dipsticks will be here soo so I shall start them this afternoon tomorrow.

GoingMadTrying I'm definitelt getting anxious - I just want to know one way or the other. I'm avoiding going to the doc's for the time being as I know there are sinister things that can cause late/missed AF's. Will do my dipsticks and think about doctors afterwards I think

BlueCrane Step Away From The First Response. Grin And CONGRATULATIONS :)

LGOR WOW! I always thought with twins the 'pregnant' would come up immediately! :)

You know after having 3 children I thought I was pretty clued up about getting pregnant, having babies etc. How naive I am in reality :).

Just wanted to add, I didn't get a positive test very faint till 4 days over due, and didn't get a positive on a digital till 7 days late! And I was pregnant with twins! They re nearly 2 now :-)

oh cherry so sorry to hear of your dilemma! As others have said I would avoid the digi tests for a few days as they require more hcg. My AF was due saturday and I finally got a v feint line on a First Response on Tuesday (after I'd fished it from the bin Blush ) and then another v feint on an internet cheapie yesterday and then a stronger but still feint on another FR later yesterday morning. This morning I used two tesco ones and two IC's Blush and only one of the tesco ones showed up bfp and that was feint, both the IC's were feint too....but my point is that the tesco ones were from the same box and yet one worked and one didn't! Also, I'm now 17DPO and 5 days overdue and the results are still feint. So...hang in there and keep testing every few days...I know it's hard, I'm dying to pop out and buy more FRs to see what they look like today! Hope that helps...
