So I know I need to get a life but...

I've found a picture of the gruffalo in enough JD/AS books (Tiddler the snail and the whale, the highway rat, tabby mctat) to make me think it must be in more - but I can't find it in Charlie Cook's favorite book and Monkey Puzzle.

First world problem, I know, but if anyone else has seen this I'd love to know!

Snail and The Whale: boy drawing Gruffalo on a dirt path at the school.

Stickman: Gruffalo Christmas bauble

Highway Rat: Gruffalo Cookies in the baker's shop

Superworm: Back of Gruffalo visible in the rubbish dump

Smartest Giant In Town: picture of the witch (room on the broom) graffiti on the wall in the town at the beginning of the book

Zog: Gadabout's horse armour

Zog and the flying Drs: The King's Bed

Smeds And The Smoos: Gruffalos on the Planet Grimbletosh

Scarecrow's Wedding: The tractor.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Gruff’s legs are up the top of the page on the warthog page in Ugly Five and in Charlie Cook the Gruff is on a drawing on Charlie’s wall on the 3 bears page.

Is it in The Ugly Five? I need to know dammit.

Have been through the book time and again and can't see it.

If you like Tyrannosarus Drip you will find pictures of him and The Troll in Jack and the Flumflum tree (all 3 are jd books which are illustrated by the same illustrator)
And no, can't find the Gruffalo in Ugly Five either and it's driving both me and ds mad.. ...

@GinnyJumperoo, it could be worse - my DD points at the "mean Tyrannosaurus and his grim and grisly bride" and says that it's her adoring grandparents whilst killing herself laughing. Grin

@GinnyJumperoo, the references are only in the books that were illustrated by Axel Scheffler I'm afraid!

My DD is OBSESSED with Tyrannosaurus Drip just now. Obsessed I tell you. Looking for a Gruffalo will keep me entertained during my next recital reading.

There's Gruffalo shaped biscuits on the cake shop at the end of The Highway Rat.
Desperate for napping DD to wake up so I can check the books in her room!

That's a phenomenal song! Could now be updated with Zog and the Flying Doctors' four-poster bed.

But we can't find a hidden Gruffalo anywhere in the Ugly Five. Are we were being thick, or has AS stopped drawing them?

I also got slightly obsessed with this, to the extent that my husband write a song about each Gruffalo sighting for our two year old! He loves it. Feel free to share with your little ones if they like the game: soundcloud.com/user-471938339/gruffalo-song

Just came across this - where is the Gruffalo in Room in the Broom?
I found him in the rubbish tip in Superworm.

Not found a Gruffalo in Room on the Broom. Is there one?

In The Smartest Giant in Town there is a drawing of the little old woman and the wise old man from A Squash and a Squeeze. It's above the shop door.

The Monkey Puzzle butterfly turns up in there too. Plus there's a castle in the background on one page which looks very similar to one in the background of Zog.

I think I've spent too much time reading JD/AS books.

Finally found Room on a Broom. Couldn't find any gruffalo in it though!

Kato, Sharing a Shell isn't illustrated by Axel Scheffler so I wouldn't expect to find a Gruffalo in there I don't think.

I was reading Monkey Puzzle today but couldn't see a Gruffalo in there. It was published the year after the Gruffalo so maybe the idea of including him in other JD/AS books hadn't occurred yet?

DD and I do love spotting the connections though. There's a fish that looks like Tiddler in Zog and DD thinks it's the same sort of thing whereas I suspect it's just an AS fish ;)

Many thanks to Kelda for pointing out the Gruffalo in CCFB - I hadn't seen that one!

Is he in 'Sharing a Shell?'

My dd1 is looking too. She has the same conclusion.

If you look on the 'Goldilocks' page of Charlie Cook, I think the drawing on her door is of the Gruffalo.
