How long did you bleed for post partum?

I was told that after a few days it would reduce to something like a period. It’s now 8 days PP and I’m still bleeding just as heavily.

16 days - emcs at 33+5 due to PE. Was told by consultant that did my section that I wouldn’t bleed long and he was right. Used a tampon last 2 days as was very light.

EMCS. was heavy for about 10 days then like a period but very stop/start until about 6 weeks pp. would stop for 2 or 3 days and think yay! that’s the end, then it would start up again. no idea why. horrible smell as well but no infection.

7 weeks. Felt like forever! Was heavy for a few weeks before it was more like a period and I was able to ditch the lovely maternity pads.

Heavier than a period for about 48 hours. Then like a period for a few days. By about a week, just used a precautionary pantyliner, but done and dusted by the 2 week mark.

Elcs with 200ml of blood lost. I generally only have light 2 day periods though.

(Breastfed for a long time though, so then went a year without a period Grin )

About 4 weeks, the first week was heavy and then it was quite light.

Between 7-14 days with all 4 children, last one was the heaviest flow

At least 2-3 weeks! Was also worried because it kept tapering off to beige/yellow, then coming back reddish brown again which isn’t supposed happen. But it wasn’t bright red so I tried not to panic and the lochia eventually ended without any problems.

Mine was fairly heavy (I used proper maternity pads) for 2 weeks. By the 3rd week I was using normal always towels. After that it stopped. I had my first proper period about 5 weeks after giving birth. Then from the 6 week check I was back on the combined pill so had my withdrawal bleeds instead of proper periods.
I lost a lot of blood during birth (600ml), I felt fine all things considered but the midwife said that was quite a lot.

7 weeks. The last couple were lighter than the first months or so.

Just accept you are getting nine months of periods in one go!

6 weeks. Very heavily for the first 4 then slowed for the last 2 and finally stopped after 6.

6 weeks, not much worse than my heavy periods really. Then at 8 weeks I got a period so much for breastfeeding

About 10 days but it was pretty light after 3/4 - no clots or anything. It was waaaay less than I was expecting, but I had a vaginal birth and lost a lot of blood straight after so maybe the worst of it came out then. It did smell rank towards the end...I thought I had an infection but midwife said it was totally normal. Grim.

A couple of weeks but it was light throughout, like a light to medium period

I did have a EMCS though and lost quite a lot of blood during that so I think that's why

3 weeks but all 3 had no complications. Only had 2 stitches with 1 and none with the others. Gradually got less and stopped totally just after 3 weeks

7 weeks, pretty heavy the whole way through until the end where it became more steady.

11 weeks! I went on the pill in an attempt to regulate my hormones and that sorted it out.

Just shy of 5 weeks. It was very heavy for about 10 days then was just a pink stain on a pad unless I’d fed my dd or been more active then it would be bright red again and quite a bit more.

Unless you feel unwell? Like fever or pain in abdomen... in which case go to maternity assessment unit to get checked (I think that's still where you go at 8days pp?) Because it might be retained placenta or something...

But if it's just bleeding at 8days it's probably normal, just ask your midwife/health visitor when you see her

About 6 weeks

2 weeks reasonably heavily then it started to ease. I remember thinking I'd got off lightly compared to what most books said.

6 weeks.... then i got my period and bled for another 6 weeks ! I bled quite a lot in that first year due to a hormone inbalance ( so the gp said)
