Childbirth

In labour. Bored. Anyone want to keep me company?

Been having contractions since about 5.30am. Currently about 8 minutes apart- I'm fed up! With DS and DD I was well on the way to them arriving (both 6 1/2 hour labours), but it looks like I'm going to take a bit longer this time around.

So, anyone care to distract me/give me any tips on how to speed things up?

I'll get a picture up in the morning, but basically he looks just like DS1, but with darker hair. He is rather lovely though :)

Any chance of a pic? When you've got a minute in a day or two of course. I spect its all family snuggles and trying to get him latched on atm. Oooh I'd do anything to hold a newborn at the mo.

It's a boy! Rory Michael was born at 3.14pm, weighing 8lbs 12oz. It was my longest labour at 9 3/4 hours, but it was fairly straightforward so I managed to stay at home.

The other DCs aren't overly impressed, but they're still so little themselves that I wasn't expecting them to be.

I had a labour like that - not much happening it seemed, so based on my first labour I thought I must have had hours to go, I thought, then whoosh - I suddenly started pushing and had to get hold of the midwife pdq.

Midwife is on her way, so I'm turning the computer off now. I'll be back later to let you know how it all went. Contractions are now 4 minutes apart and quite painful.

Hopefully I'll be back soon!

DH is now dancing to try and keep me entertained. I may lock him out of the house when the mdwife gets here.

No answer when DH phoned the midwives. He's going to try the daytime number again, then call the central delivery suite and hope they can get hold of whoever is on duty today. I hope it's the midwife I've seen all the way through, 'cos she's lovely.

Oh how exciting! Hope things speed up soon for you. If you want to keep DH busy are you sure the windows don't need polishing or anything? Smile

The MWs will clean up the mess afterwards, I wouldn't worry about that!
