Assessment for ASD ADHD

After a very long wait, my 9yo finally has his ASD ADHD assessment next week. Can anyone tell me what to expect? I've completed the forms, as have school. He's on an IEP in school now, for refusal & issues liken ability to stop talking, but I don't think their forms will reflect as many issues amine as he masks a lot in school & is explosive on pick-up (though less so now thanks to IEP/measures in place). I don't think the forms allowed for much detail, I don't think they'll be able to cover a lot in the hour we've been allocated. What do they actually do? Also-how can I ensure that everything I need covered in that hour is covered? TY!

Just had ours done. It’s all very daunting. So the first appointment we went to my son was taken in for an asd assessment first and then on the second one he went for another assessment and I went through a medical history questionnaire at the same time. Half way through she came in and booked an assessment for adhd. Which was the following week. The asd assessments seemed to be bored games and asking questions and they asked similar questions I.e how would your child respond if you were crying and eye contact and things. It was a lot of general questions of asd traits. I filled in the adhd questionnaire over the phone as they didn’t do it in the appointment. The adhd assessment was on computers and not as fun as the games my son said. They then said they would contact me when they do the formulation meeting this took 2 weeks as they do them certain days and appeared to be working from home some days. After the formulation meeting (diagnosis stage) they called me the next morning to let me know the diagnosis and explained the next steps of referrals to Camhs for medication, sleep issues and anxiety and referrals school needed to do for Ed psych. The report came out nearly 2 weeks later and was an 18-20 page report that was very detailed. I passed along a copy to the school for this. Write down everything you wish to discuss with them when they go through the background medical history as this covers from birth. Any questions feel free to ask me.

Thanks Holly. I'm so nervous DS will be able to mask his way through it. Have had a horrendous few days with controlling behaviours and lots of upset for siblings. I hate the constant battleground our life at home is. Yet people on the outside don't see this...so fear that neither will the assessors.

My son was younger but ours was 2 days at 2 hours a time in a group setting. He was seen by salt, nursery nurse, Ed psych and had eyes/ears checked. They also took reports from us and school. He was so well behaved and the most social I'd ever see him. But he still got diagnosed.

Will they ask for a report from you. If yes you need to explain you dc worst day I find it hard to talk about my child negatively but it's important to ensure a clear picture

So..they took DS into a room & I was in an adjacent room & I could watch & hear (some) of what went on. There was no further discussion with me-they have my forms but hadn't received school ones. (School had app sent them off ages ago). He now has to have a school observation & group observation with peers he doesn't know. They called me later & said they could understand why he'd been referred-but can't conclude anything until all evidence is gathered. But don't think ADHD from this encounter. What do you make of that?

They didn’t spot any signs regarding adhd until my sons second appointment so they may not be seeing any signs for adhd. However they told me originally they didn’t think they had enough evidence for a diagnosis so I had to hand over a file of paperwork (still need to get it back) with all documents like Ed psych reports so they may not have enough information until the formulation meeting when all the professionals come together and they look at reports submitted by school etc. have you heard anything recently
