Suspiciously cheap Cybex Pallas?

Hi All

Am shopping around for a 123 car seat at the moment, and have my eye on a Cybex Pallas. I've just found this on Amazon:

..and it's suspiciously cheap! From what I can gather it's the Silver version of the Pallas so doesn't have the upgraded side impact collision protection and the fabric isn't as nice as the Pallas 2. But that seems to be the only differences?

Obviously I want the safest for DS, but we're also on a budget and it seems that the Pallas is cheaper and also incredibly safe (albeit the Pallas 2 is safer still!)

Does this Amazon deal sound too good to be true d'you think? Not quite sure whether to go for it or not!

Also, is it worth bothering with an isofix based 123 seat? Potentially my parents may need to remove/install the seat in their own cars so I'm thinking the isofix base may be a faff when the seats without the bases seem to do just as well in the safety stakes?

Thanks wise Mumsnetters! Smile

Well its being sold by Amazon a market place seller so that's a good sign.

Can't help your other questions though sorry.

It could potentially be that price if the colour line is being sold through - for £190 Mama's and Papa's have the red Pallas 2 with the additional side impact protection here

If you are in doubt as to how genuine the seat is then contact Cybex head office and see if that Amazon retailer is someone they supply to.

It is the earlier version of the Pallas. We have it in black which I got at a heavy discount from a Mamas and Papas outlet when the Pallas 2 came out. Think that was 2 years ago.

My DS really didn't get on the impact shield - he whinged constantly and slipped down behind it so we ended up buying a different seat. Very glad I didn't pay full price for it. We know use it as HBB as it is great without the impact shield.
