Anyone know somewhere really chilled out, family-friendly, bit hippyish maybe?
We took the littlies to Larmer Tree festival last year and enjoyed it so much we're going back next year but we'd also like a similar vibe for a longer stay.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated, thanks.

Oh is that great Langdale? We used to go there all the time pre-children...the old Dungeon Gyhll and Cumberland Ale
Must take the boys

The NT Langdale site is fabulous for kids, we originally went for a weekend and couldn't drag oursleves away. DD talks about it all the time.

GM is utterly fab. I went last year, it pissed with rain the WHOLE time, and I loved it.

Beautiful, beautiful site, small, peaceful, so relaxed. The most child-friendly place I've ever been, everyone just having a lovely time. No dickheads, no drunks, no bad vibes (man). Food was excellent - waaaay beyond usual festival fayre. Loos were clean (or as clean as could be expcted!) Loads and loads for kids to do. And you could get served at the bar so quickly too...

Can't imagine how lovely it would be if the sun shone!

Singsalot, have you tried tartanheart in Belladrum (sp?) outside Inverness? We went a couple of years ago, and it was great. I'm sure I read about one happening in Inverary this year, too. Belladrum was great for families - very chilled, and loads of workshops to sign the kids up to: circus skills, drumming etc.

What you need is Green Man. Like being in a really big, beautiful back garden. Decent loos, too.

oh these camping festivals with fires sound great, just a pity it is all so far away, must try and find some where Scottish like this, I went to gael gallowa (sp) in dumfries and galloway, but it was inhabited by millions of midges per square metre, never have I experienced the like, in 30+ yrs of camping, in fairly out of the way places....

larmer etc sound so civilised in comparison

I know TSAP. We live in Yorks and I'm so sick on trekking down southwest.
Solfest is supposed to be quite good. When is Larmer??

Larmer Tree festival is fairly near to us. I've always fancied going but never made it. Might try this year - it sounds great. Doesn't Jools Holland always play?

LOL festival atmosphere brings visions of full portaloos, pot noodles and drunk people falling in your tents.

Ooh no, just seen the website and there are pics of crowd barriers in front of the stages, not so chilled out IMO! Too big for my cup of tea I think.
