Well the key is you need to keep tracking calories as if you eat over your maintenance you will gain. My maintenance isn’t a huge amount as I’m short, so if I eat over 1500 a day I’m gaining. I lost 24lbs in 2020 and gained it all back in 2022-23. I’m currently on a diet again. I’m quite good at losing once in the zone and I find it really motivating and that keeps me going. But when I hit my target weight in 2021 I didn’t get the excitement of loses anymore and it’s not quite the same seeing the scales say the same. Or more. I promised myself I would weigh regularly and have a half stone buffer. But life got in the way.

You have to keep on top of it or you gain. You can’t be blasé about it or you regain. Very few people overhauls their diet forever - a lifestyle change. I know I don’t, as I don’t have a problem really with over eating, I’m just short and don’t have many calories to play with.

2.5 pounds a week on the regular unless you're 250+ pound is far too quickly. It's no wonder you've gained the majority of it back.

Slimming world doesn't teach you anything about diet and nutrition they make money from repeat customers stuck in the lose and gain cycle of their programme.

I know not everyone can afford it but if you can then hire a reputable weight loss coach or PT that does nutrition and exercise without needing a gym. If you can't then YouTube is your friend there's millions of hours of content from world class experts in their field for free! Just have to do a little research. My recommendation would be a channel called RP Strength.

I’m not good at maintenance - I lost 24lbs in lockdown and regained all of it. I’m now in my mission to lose again, though not as much as I definitely had lost too much. I am quite good at losing as I get a buzz from seeing the numbers go down but it’s not quite the same seeing the numbers stay the same, even though that’s what you want to see. When I get to target this time I’m going to have a buffer of 5lbs and go back on a diet. I think the key is to still count and eat maintenance calories and weigh regularly.
