i started my baby on this milk as i had already bought 7 tins before she was born and have since been hunting to stock up as it suits her really well - today i found lloyds chemist still had some and this evening just bought 20 tins from acado.com for £5.08 a tin so i am well happy. so any one still looking try there.

I have added this on the Heinz site in disgust

What the hell have you done to FARLEYS first
milk (AND THE PRICE) you have got to be joking....talk about price increas, you lot at Heinz must be having a joke.
I shall deffinately not move onto the new fangled fancy expensive label money making version of the milk...
Bye bye Heinz...and I shall do my damdest to ensuere all my friends and friends of friends do the same...
I will ensure this is posted everywhere possible on the internet.

It is disgusting what Heinz have done they know how expensive it is having a baby and then to take the cheapest milk and double the price is ridiculous, i have changed my sons milk and have gone onto hipp follow on as it is the same price as farleys was and to be honest the only 1 i can afford as i'm on unpaid maternity leave and have no money to spare at the best of times!
Have sent Heinz a very strongly worded email voicing my opinions though i dount they will respond as it seems they will have a lot of similar emails to get through!!

Copz, i think most people have had to switch product anyway as the Farley's milk has been pretty hard to come by in recent weeks. My local Sainsbury's and Boots have been out for weeks so I was using Hipp.

The new added ingredient is a bit dubious as well....it has only been tested on a very small sample of babies for only a few weeks, but there have been reports that similar additives have caused massive problems in some babies digestive systems. There is another thread called Novel additives which explains all.

I like many of you am disgusted a the price hike on Farley's - notice they did not mention this in there little booklets advertising that they were changing, found on the old tins.

The only reason I used Farleys was because my daughter did not get on with SMA, if it is true that Farleys have changed the fomula, am I going to have the same problems again!!!

I have written to Farleys to show my annoyance at this.

I think we should hit them were it hurts and change products (if little ones allow), then lets see how there profits increase! which we all know is the real reason behind it!!

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/1364/563348 I did Norma]].....for all the good it did, but it made me feel better.

They have taken my details.

I also sent them an email complaint last night...just to remind them I'm here.

there are so many threads about this kicking about now, it's unbelievable. I'm going to contact Johann Hari, as suggested by sabire, as well.

OMG though....I have turned into a lactivist

I never gave it a minutes thought either....just watched it there and thought it was actually pretty funny!!! Grrrrrrrrr...this Heinz/Farleys/Nurture business is annoying me..I don't think they are doing themselves any favours with the price increase being as much as it is...a lot of people will just switch to an alternative formula..probably myself included...mind you they are all pretty expensive now.

OFFS. I've seen that ad and never even gave the dad pecking the cheek of the chef a minutes thought....isn't that a bit mad of people to complain?

Heinz are upsetting a lot of people lately - what with the gay kiss on the mayo ad!

I think I might have that thread open when I do call!

I think this whole thing will have caused Heinz quite a lot of harm actually.

Be fascinated to hear what they say though.

If they do say it's the same oil that's in breastmilk, ask them where they've got it from - "wot, breastmilk?" - and whether it has any side effects.

You've read the Novel Oils thread - you know it's from a non-human source and it does have side effects - you'll probably know more than they're willing to tell you, I bet.

Right seldom comes into formula company practices.

Mind you, this makes my job easier - after all, a lot of the stuff I write on here is based upon my premise that formula manufacturers are scum incarnate - this hardly demonstrates anything else, does it? Not quite there for the greater good if they're fleecing parents like this, are they?

I'm going to ring them tomorrow hunker to see what they say

and how can it be right that they have increased the price by 50%?

Report
hunkermunker · 07/07/2008 23:08

"improved the formula and it now has the oil that is found in breast milk"

This is what they're telling people who ring them?

This is outrageously inaccurate - it's very much NOT what's in breastmilk. How can it be?

Not sure who you'd check it with tbh.

I was wondering about that too but... they seemed like they are getting around it by not advertising that they have marked it down. I just know that it was marked down because I cruise the baby aisle just in case i see something which interests me.

I am wondering if it is a way they have gotten around the law.

Report
lackaDAISYcal · 07/07/2008 22:38

they're not allowed to discount it kiskidee...tis against the law!

There were 6 tins of Farleys Infant Formula on the shelf at the local ASDA yesterday. They were being sold at £4 per tin.

Next to it was the empty space where the Follow on had also been, also being sold at £4 per tin.

I tried to buy a carton of Farley's in Sainsbury's yesterday but when it was scanned at the till it came up as 'not for sale'. A supervisor was called and the milk was taken off me

lackaDAISYcal · 07/07/2008 19:01

hipp organic is of a similar price to farley and my DD happily takes that now.

i did get some Farleys in Lidl today, but it was only the follow on milk they had...no first milk or cartons, just a big empty space on the shelf.

the price hike is awful isn't it? It's about a 60% rise in the price

Report
PotPourri · 07/07/2008 15:53

Lidl still have it - get downt here now and talk to the manager. No way will they discontinue it until their warehouses are empty.
