Can anyone please recommend books about people that never quite got together romantically / sliding doors type scenarios? 🙈

You could try The Midnight Library by Matt Haigh. It’s about a woman who through a magic library chooses alternate versions of her own life to live in, one of which is with a man she was attracted to but didn’t have the courage to follow through with to a date.

The Narrow Road to the Deep North is a very good book, it’s a harrowing read at one point so not lightweight feel good but has a storyline about a man and woman who through circumstance (WW2 and her marriage) don’t end up together.

This is a brilliant book. However, reading it will turn you into an arsehole for at least two weeks. It is bleak and it makes you see the world bleakly and behave like a misanthropic twat. Or maybe that's just me. But be warned!
