My 2yo dd is very bright, but today we went for her 2yr developmental check and the hv has put us on a list to see a speech therapist. I know shes is behind the other two year olds that we see at various groups, but i thought hv would tell me that she will catch up. Her pronounciation is poor on some words too. Can anyone reassure me that at two they had a similar situation and all is well now?

Kewcucumber - thanks for that info. DS definitely fits into the category that his main carer can understand him (although there are times when even I am baffled by what he is trying to tell me - and DH sometimes has to ask me to interpret )

But, we spent the day with my parents, bro, sis and her 3 children who we maybe see once or twice a month - and they all understood him quite well (including my 11-year old nephew who realised DS was counting to 10 at one point) so maybe it isn't as bad as I think.
