Hi,

I'm not sure if I'm bothered about nothing. I was recently looking at the red book and the weight tracking pages and realised from 2 there's a child bmi chart you can use.

My daughter is 2 in a month. She is just around 99. 6 centile for weight and she is on the 99. 6 centile for height. This places her at very overweight on the bmi calculator.

She has always been between the 98 and 99.6 centile, never below. She is quite a bit taller than all other children at nursery but physically not all that different. She is between 1.5-2 and 2-3 clothes (which are mostly too big).My husband is over 6 foot and I am 5'9".

Basocally I am slightly worried that I'm going to be told at her 2 year review that her weight is not right... But she has always followed her curve, I'm not sure what's meant to happen with that?
Thanks in advance if you have any advice 😊

I’m worried about the same - my daughter is two in October and like yours is also in the high 90’s for both. She towers above other kids her age at nursery. People think she is older than she is. I try and feed her a good balanced diet and always take the plate away when she tells me she’s finished etc, I don’t give her processed foods. She gets loads of exercise. I don’t think there’s anything more we can do at this stage - just plenty of fresh air and healthy meals, and I’m sure they will thrive, despite what the charts tell us. I’m 5’7 and father 6’2

Thanks both. I know it seems silly as she is so little, but I was concerned by the graph!

If her diet is right and portions appropriate I'd not worry at all. Loads of healthy food and exercise is all she needs, no worries about BMI.

I think if she's on the same for both that's perfectly healthy and she's so high on the percentile because she's going to be tall like her parents. They should compare her weight with her height and it sounds like these both match so no problem
