Poll: difficult baby = easy toddler OR 'good' baby = nightmare toddler?

DS was a difficult baby but cruisy toddler ... DD who was the dream baby has turned into an absolute shocker - at least 10 screaming tantrums a day and at least another 10 less screamy ones ... it feels like I am dealing with them every minute of the day ... and I am going round the twist Sad
So ... someone once told me that difficult babies turn into easy toddlers and vice versa ...
What is your experience?

Hmm... DD wasn't exactly a "difficult" baby - she didn't cry excessively, she wasn't clingy, she slept through fairly early... but during the day she just would not sleep - which led to overtiredness and tears. Just too interested in everything going on to give in.

Toddler... A whirlwind! Grin Still has far too much energy for her own good, leading to overtiredness and hideous tantrums. She's strong willed and knows exactly what she wants. She's hardwork, but if I stay calm, I wouldn't say nightmare (my friends might though Blush.

DS - He's only five weeks, but at the moment I love it... he sleeps during the day!! Grin He seems much more laid back than DD ever did. My mum says it is like my sister and me - she was the tantrum whirlwind, and I was laid back... as a baby and a toddler... so here's hoping!

My mother in law is watching this thread, then told me about her DS who is now my DH... She says of him:
As a baby: Very Easy
As a Toddler: Wonderful and very cuddly
As a 13 till 18: Horrible, Loved him but didn't like him
18 till 25: Was happy to see him going sailing around the world( Waving bye bye was a great relief)
From 25: he met me... she now loves him to bit, cry when saying good bye (she lives in SA).. and is very proud of him. And she can't beleive he is married and have a DD
Wink

dd, nightmare baby, tricky toddler (but much easier than baby days). The issue is her highly charged strongwilled personality. And I can't see that ever changing. But now that she is more in control of her body and environment, she is really coming into her own. Will always need careful and sensitive parenting though.

You've inspired me Ghosty - I am running an information evening for my baby music class parents so I can explain why I do what I do, on the poster I have put:

"coming soon - Taming Toddlers using Music".

Do you think anyone will come?

dd difficult as a baby very challenging as a toddler, dramatic but charming as a 9 year old, prone to temper tantrums still.

ds, easier as a baby, physicaly demanding as a toddler but happy go lucky and only ever had two tantrums.

Much the same at 6

My 5 1/2 yr old ds was an easy baby, a difficult toddler, and now a really lovely little boy. Doesn't make much sense does it?

As a baby, he ate, slept and smiled all the time. As a 3 year old he was tantrummy/strongwilled/hyperactive (and ran off at every opportunity). Now at nearly 6, I couldn't ask for a better child!! He's great. I hope it lasts Grin

dss 1 and 2 have always been easy, though progressively more exuberant. ds3 is a bit more grumpy, but poor thing has had a cold for 1/2 his 4-week life - who knows what's in store.....

DS - Horrendous baby, very very colicky and constantly crying for food for the first 3 or 4 months (got a bit better as time went on).

He's now a wonderful toddler. Very very happy and giggley. A right little showman, has a temper and strong will but he knows his boundaries.
