I've been pondering this name and keep coming back to it. What do you think of Euphemia, probably with nickname Effie?

I had an auntie with this name, known as Effie, or Oighrig in Gaelic. She didn't like her name. Have also met a young child recently called Effie only. I like it!

Nooo, don't like it one bit. Also I like Effie when I see it written and because I know how it's spelt, but have visions of you shouting it out in softplay or somewhere and other people hearing it as "F-ie" (sorry!).

My granny was called Euphemia, but she wasn't keen on it. She was always called Etta for short.

"Euph.." sounds like the beginning of a curse to me. ("You f....") I think you would startle people if you had to shout it out loud anywhere.

I know 3 Euphemia's and they are all Nigerian nurses - its a very popular name in Nigeria
