Looking for an under used pretty girls name?

Just as the title says really.
We've chosen Patrick with everyone on heres help, think its a lovely underused traditional name.
Now we are trying to find the equivalent for a girl.

But.... needs to go with ds's Alfie and Archie and a surname of one syllable beginning with C (so unfortunately Rose is out). I would also like something that is adaptable, so you can have a cute name (maybe nn) or a serious name when older.

I don't want much I know

Any help would be most appreciated.

I'm a teacher and I have one class of ten year olds with three Emilys in it! But that just says it was popular ten years ago. perhaps there aren't so many babies now with that name. However, there are a lot of little Amelias, who could be called Milly for short!

I only know 2 Emilys and I am a teacher and have children in 2 different schools.

Thanks Hedwig, I think its timeless, I know its popular but Milly just seems to suit her, for now anyway

Emily goes beautifully with your boys names and Milly sounds great too.

Perfect.

Thats a good link Ineedmoresleep thanks.
Loler we do like Anya, but hubby says not sure it goes with boys name.

I read somewhere that its a good idea to call your baby the name for a week and see how it feels. So we have been calling her Millie and this does seem to feel right for her. So now just to think what Millie could be short for.

Amelia
Amelie
Emilie
Emily
Camilla (hubby doesnt like though)
Millicent (same as above)
or just good ole Millie.

My Patrick's sister is Anya, she gets called annie. If you don't want a 'ie' ending how about Anna?

If he was a girl he was going to be Rosa or Josephine (Josie)

If its an old fashioned name you are both after take a look here there are lots.

Some of the names I like are:

Elizabeth
Rose
Jemima
Harriet
Henrietta

The first 3 were vetoed by DH, having an ex with one of the names didn't help, and we didn't want to use the last 2 as our last name begins with H.

Amelie is the French version of Amelia.

Ava is very nice.

There's Emma or Emmaline, both nice old fashioned names, and also popular right now. Alfie, Archie and Emma/ Emmy?

Or how about Rosie? Just Rosie. Or Rosa?

Olivia is very popular, but it's a lovely name all the same, imo, and has nice nn potential.

Sophie is lovely.

Esme?

Renee?

Laura and Grace are classics too.

Thanks everyone, some lovely names coming up but hubby very old fashioned.
Kerala1, I understand about thinking outside of the box, but sometimes I do think we try to be too clever. I was reading a mag and little one was called Lettice/Lettuce (sorry to anyone who has a lo by this name).
I just think with my other children having old fashioned names that it would look silly having something too modern along side them.
Hence the older traditional names. However I love Camilla but with surname beginning with C and hubby not keen, not much I can do.

I also like Amelie, but again is it trying too hard, not overly keen on names spelt differently for the sake of it.

I like Amelie (you could use Millie as a nn) - although just to warn I think Amelia (which is similar) is in the top 10 girls names for 2009.

I would have Amelie for mine but my niece is Millie so I think it's too similar.

I love Camilla (nn Millie) or how about Ottiline / Ottilie very underused but there was a girl at school with this name and I loved it!

My current favourites are:

Charlotte Rose (Lottie as a nn)
Alice Rose (DH doesn't like Alice though)
Violet (not sure on middle name)

We also liked:
Ava (DH's favourite, a bit too popular for me)
Grace (I love, but ditto on popularity.)
Kitty
Rose

Popular is a bad thing! Its boring. One third of the girls in dd's class have the same name. Think outside the box!(to use terrible term). There are lots and lots of lovely names outside the top ten.

I'm not in the uk but i know the cutest little girl called Greta. She also has sisters Clara and Ida (pronounced eeda). Love those names

I think I have come to accept that popular is not necessarily a bad thing and that hubby just wont go for something too unusual.

I have to say, that now its more important the name fits in with our family, ie ds's Alfie and Archie.
