DC2 (a boy) is due this Sunday and I think we have narrowed it down now to either Alexander (Alex) or Felix as both go well with our surname.

Thoughts please to help us decide!

I prefer Felix - less popular than Alex.

I know a Felix with the nn 'Ix'

Alex or Lex (like Lex Luther from Superman, I think )

Have an Alex, so obviously that is the best boys name ever. But I would say wait and see what you think he looks like. That's what we did!

Got to be Alex. Sorry, but Felix firstly is a cat's name, and secondly, is one of those posh middle class names now so has too many associations. Alex is timeless and classless and therefore a better name to have. Good luck with it all!

I am biased as I have an Alex(ander)

Felix is definitely a cats name and quite pretentious IMHO

both nice but felix is a little more unusual so go for felix.

I like both but would go for Alex.

Have come across loads of Alexs - Felix is more unusual and I like the meaning of it ('lucky' or 'contented').

Whoever posted that Felix didn't sound "like a man's name" - bit ironic, as Alex is the name here that can be used for both males and females

Felix.

Alex is a cat's name - I just called our cat Alex.

Felix. It's funky and cool and also manages to have something solemn about it imo. Just right for when your DS is PM!

Anyone else?

I vote Felix. Alex is nice but Felix is more unusual, it didn't make the top 100 last year. Also it means happy and lucky which is a nice auspicious start.

Alexander - timeless, classic and hads loads of nicknames (Alex, Sandy, xander)
Felix - too popular, too quickly.

Jellybeans, oh hadn't thought of that. Don't like any of those nicknames tbh!
