My DD, aged 6, is called Marbella. Do you think it's chav to name DC after places?

If not, what place names do you like as names for DC?

I used to live in Newcastle (the one upon Tyne) and quite fancied Jesmond and Jarrow for twins.

My middle name is Liguanea (Li-ga-nee), after where my dad used to live in Jamaica.

I met a little girl called America once. It's the only name when I have had to really grit my teeth and try and say something positive.

Personally I prefer giving children real names, not making something up on the spur of the moment.

I knew a Capri, named because she was conceived there. She was born shortly before the Ford Capri came out. Poor girl.

India, Florence, Sienna all nice places and make nice names, Marbella - not such a nice place and not so nice for a name. Saying that I quite like Preston for a name!
Talking of diseases i always think Valeria sounds like malaria and Ruby Ella like rubella! haa!

Oops, sorry - I see someone else has already asked. And from your 'Chihuahua' comment, I deduce that you are definitely on a wind-up.

Are the 'L's pronounced in Marbella, or is it Mar-baya?

I am sure you are joking, in any case.

ScummyMummy · 19/06/2009 12:24

Do not fear, SM, I am just wittering mindlessly. I don't even know what classy means or whether it's something I would value in an area, tbh.

I know a Rimini, although I don't know if that's how she spells it. My uncle lives in Corpusty, I think that would be nice !

DH wanted to call our DD (at the time she was still a bump) Columbia. It actually sounded really quite good with our surname and I was very tempted...
