Kobie is also an Afrikaans name - think it's short for Kobus. I prefer Kobus to Kobie - sorry not much use am I...

Those of you that know Kobe's is that right it is Kou-beh rather than Ko-bee?

Report
iSOLOvechocolate · 14/04/2009 01:45

i know a Kobe, it's nice IMO.

Kobe is a traditional Ghanaian name for sons born on a Tuesday. Not made up- just a bit unusual in the U.K.

Report
nappyaddict · 13/04/2009 16:44

Apparently Kobe should be pronounced "Kou-beh (not Ko-bee) (The o is a long sound)"

Sorry don't like it at all.

It's awful - looks and sounds made up.

When I say living with you, I mean one day they will be adults and move on and you won't be introducing three names in a row so they don't need to sound as though they go together.

samsonara · 13/04/2009 15:51

I know a Kobie and he is very beautiful, mixed race. I like the name. I don't think you need to worry if it goes with your other children's name, it's not as if the children will mind or always be living together with you and matching sibling names get a bit embarrasing when they get past school age pointing out the lack of imagination in name choosing, well in my opinion anyway.

I know of two, both of whom are from very quite chavvy families, I really don't like it. Sorry!

ItsMargotBeaurEGGarde · 13/04/2009 15:42

IF you must, go with Jacob Toby, nn Coby, with a C.

Report
ItsMargotBeaurEGGarde · 13/04/2009 15:40

That is hideous. Like calling your child Pikey or Bowswer or something.

Isn't Kobie the Japanese beef, the ones that they give beer to or is that Kobe? Pronounced the same anyway. I hate these kinds of names, they remind me of the teen Hollywood flicks.

Report
4andnotout · 13/04/2009 13:09

I would pronounce it Kobee.

Report
nappyaddict · 13/04/2009 13:08

How is Kobe pronounced?

Report
ScorpiowithabigS · 13/04/2009 13:08

Koby/Coby is a nn for Jacob. i like it.

Having 3 ie names is not silly - it works for me at least.

I like Kobe, we had it picked for if dd3 was a boy, it is a diminutive of Jacob and we wanted a hebrew name as dp's mum is jewish.
My friend them named her ds Cody so we couldn't use it now if we wanted to

Report
MadameCastafiore · 13/04/2009 13:00

Having an ie sound at the end of all 3 names of kids sounds stupid IMO.

Is Kobie actually a name?

Cody sounds like a venerial disease so please don't go for that!
