Yes, it hasn't got an 'r' in it, just wanted to convey that it wasn't like sha in shat! Thanks for pointing it out - my middle name is Sian and I was cursed with sy-an, then finally the UK woke up to Welsh. Still can't work out how to put the 'tor' over the 'a' -like a circumflex, but indicates that the 'a' is long...

It's pronounced Sharnee and it means bright or shining one in Romany. Or at least it did in the Monica Edwards book I read 35 years ago when it was the name of a particularly magnificent horse!
