What is your favourite boys name?

DH and I expecting our first child in July, a little boy.

We had a girls name picked out which we both love, but obviously not using that now! I find boys names really difficult so curious to know what your favourite names are/ what your sons are called!

On my list at the moment:
Milo (DH doesn't like)
Riley (DH not sure)
Freddy (DH loves, I don't)
Otto (top runner at the moment but DH definitely needs convincing)
Jesse (such a cute name but his friend has a daughter called Jessie and this has put him off a bit)

I don't like really traditional names like George, Michael, Peter etc. but something a bit more unusual/ less common?

@pigglepot our girls names were
Marley
Willow
Eden
Arlie
Noelle

This is just what’s written on my phone but I could honestly pick about 30 more 😂

The reason Freddy dropped out of my list is because of how popular it is, and also because a few friends have jokingly said we’d use it as I’m a big Queen fan 😳 DH still loves it but I’m pretty adamant that it’s not happening.

Otto I love, I like the nickname Ottie as well and
I personally don’t know any other children with that name.

I just want a few more to add to my list in case he doesn’t suit it when he arrives! But still not loving anything else - so annoying!!

Freddie was the 14th most popular boy's name used for babies born in the UK in 2019.

But wouldn't you want to include Frederick as
Freddie is generally a nickname for Frederick.

@JellyBellySmith

Tbf I also know lots of tinies and my two are young. Even if Freddie is 17th on the boys’ list, that’s probably fewer than one per class. I’ve told my Fred he’s welcome to call himself Alf or some other diminutive, but he says he loves Freddie.

I'm the same as you but the other way round! We had a name for a boy picked out (Otto Arthur) but I'm having a girl. What is your girls name?

For obvious reasons my favourite is Otto.:.followed by Freddie which was also on my list.

I really love Sasha - a traditional Russian diminutive of Alexander! It would probably raise some eyebrows, but I think I love it enough not to care!

Love Otto Milo and Jesse

How about
Tristan
Hugo
Winston
Walter
Spencer
Axel
Casper
Ellis
Marley

Funny you see a name like Peter as popular and common OP, it would actually be extremely refreshing these days and one of the least used name on your list and almost definitely the only one in class /school. Falls in numbers every year.

@Constance11 @renovationfatigue
wow we have such similar taste love all the names on your lists except Rowan as know too many girls Rowan, also find it's too similar to RoMan, too popular and dislike inevitable nickname Row.
Jasper, Caleb and Nicholas are so cool! Great lists, great taste.

From your list, I like Otto. If I'd had a son, he would have been Conrad.

As a teacher I would say Riley is by far the most common of those you've chosen. Of course, those children are a lot older than yours will be but it is my only experience.

I love Ethan, Max, Fabien, Finn, Hector and Noah
