Is this name too short for our surname?

We really like Skye for a girl but don't know if it's too short with our surname (Fox). What do people think? I'm not keen on the longer Skylar.

I am usually not a fan of alliteration but I quite like:

Francesca or Francis Fox
Freya Fox

I think three syllable names sound best (or longer), or long two syllable ones.
Naomi, Jemima, India, Susannah, Harriet, Natasha, Sarah, Sarah-Jane, Dearbhla/Dervla, Rosemary, Miriam, Catherine, Enid, Emily.

You could have alliteration with Phillipa Fox or Fionnuala Fox.

Peter and Benjamin don't sound like stripper names to me but Flopsy, Mopsy and Cottontail might.

We've got an animal based surname...hence my username. So many names I like for future dcs just don't go as they sound like stripper names or something from Beatrix Potter.

I've suggested Red as a first name on another thread.

Surname and occupation names are trendy. Cooper, Parker etc.

Hunter is nice and could be unisex.

LOL, you CANNOT call a child Silver Fox @MikeUniformMike, that is how my DH describes himself.

Fiona is what I was thinking too, @LarkDescending

or Freya

There was a thread on Silver as a girl's name recently.

I think Jasmine Fox sounds nice. Also love Leila but slept like that rather than Laila.

@IVflytrap Haha, "Cor, a fox " is hilarious! I could be so cruel. Imogen is another of my favourites that DH doesn't like!

We don't actually know the sex but boys names seem much easier to match with the surname...Thomas, Alexander, Henry, Louis are our top choices. We like Ethan too but too many F sounds maybe?

This is a lot harder than I initially thought. I had to rule out Juno and Cora from my list (as in "D'you know Fox?" and "Cor, a fox!") Grin

Anything alliterative risks sounding like a character from Peppa Pig

Or a double act with Basil Brush.

Fiona Fox and Basil Brush...

Why is she a real person @OhSoOutingGrin

I met an Ilona once, which I thought was a nice alternative to Iona.

I think there might be an actress with the name, but love Emilia Fox, and Tabitha Fox as well!
