DH really likes Anne but I’m not entirely convinced.
I don’t like Annie or Anna for sure but Anne is one I’m on the fence about.
Any thoughts?

‘Dh and I compromised’ if ever in doubt just leAve the dh out of it and say would it be ‘I compromised’ or ‘me compromised’ ? The ‘and’ doesn’t change what’s right.

Me and dh. Or dh and I?

I really liked Anne when I was pregnant (it's so classic and green gables fan.) I still love it but me and she compromised on Anna. Which I have never liked but it's grown on me now. We have a one syllable surname though so actually a one syllable first name would have been odd. Go for Anne if you love it.

Annika is lovely but Anne is just dull and awful.

Anne Frank's full name was Annelies/e which is beautiful and still gives the shortened version as an alternative.

My mistake and my apologies @Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g.

People like that are just so rude and only because they're online. I bet the person who said that would not walk up to somebody irl and say that.

I didn't say that, @Bbq1, I was quoting someone else. I like the names Anne and Ann.

@Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g

Well I'm not awful, angry or middle aged so there you go! I'm sure you have a perfectly normal name that lots of people would hate but hopefully not everyone with that name is rude, ignorant and unthinking...

Middle age doesnt make one any less lovely!

Every Anne I've ever met have been awful angry middle aged women. Please don't do it.

Really like Anna or Anya but Anne is a bit dull for me. Not horrible in any way though!

I am a total Anne of Green Gables obsessive so you can't go wrong with the name Anne imho. Anne Boleyn was also pretty cool.

'awful angry middle aged women'

Hmm I'm sure they weren't born middle-aged (as if being middle-aged were such a horror anyway)

Fab name! And it's mine. I like that there aren't many people of my age with my name. It's with an e, we always call Ann without an e 'unfinished Ann'. It's a great name and many generations of women in my family have the name. Anna is ok but Annie is a bit over used and unoriginal, nice as a pet name. Using Anne for a baby now would be lovely and actually quite unusual.

Was coming on to say I prefer Anna but the more I've seen Anne written on this thread it is growing on me. Definitely due a comeback, nice solid name.

I think it's sweet and agree it's due for a comeback. I like with the e (Anne) and as pp mentioned it's a literary and historical name with a lot of great Anne's in the past

I think it’s had its day tbh, it’s dated and dull.
