did you really mean Josh-U-Ahhhh?

Loch is surely not a real name?

Josh is a million times better. But maybe you'd like Loki too?

Erm... Is it not a bit like calling your baby Canal?!

How will English speakers pronounce Loch (hole)? It will probably sound like lock..!

Sorry, but that's not a name, it's a landscape feature! Will be hard for people to pronounce too.

I'd assume Loch was a nn for Lochlan. It doesn't sound like a proper name.

Loch as a name?
It's a bit wet.

inabizzlefam · 23/09/2016 23:46

Unless his surname is Lomond or Ness then it should be fine.
No weirder than some of the names you hear at school. One family I see there are all K....Kian, Kieran, Ki, Kara and Kody.
Loch is mediocre in comparrison.

Lochlan is Irish, Lachlan is Scottish. Loch is just a bit odd to be honest, sorry.

I was just going to say the same user

I'm Scottish, and anecdotally non scots tend to say 'Lock' rather than loch.

I'm not sure I'm a fan regardless of pronunciation though, sorry.

Is that the diminutive of Lochia?

Report
user1471552005 · 23/09/2016 20:36

How would you pronounce it? In my experience it's a word many English people struggle to pronounce .The "CH " sound is not normally found in spoken English.

KeyboardMouse · 23/09/2016 20:36

He'll be a Josh then, as that's the other name on our list!
