If DC3 is a girl then we have narrowed down our choices to these three names - which shall we choose? Also, please suggest a middle name to go with your favourite.

Thank you!

Amusingly, the first two of your shortlist are my mother's name and mother in law's name! And Jane is my aunt. Funny. I like them both. Don't particularly like Verity - definitely sounds 1950s boarding school to me. I don't think my mum particularly loves her name (Felicity) - think she found it too fancy growing up, and the number of people who call her Facility (unintentionally)...! Which is annoying. But I like her name! Maybe I wouldn't if it was my name though....

Lots of possibilities with Felicity for shortenings: Fliss, Flick, Fizz, Fizzy, Liss, Lissy / Liccy/Lissie etc.

Personally I like middle names with a meaningful reason to you, so can't help!

Bumping for some more middle name suggestions for Verity or Felicity...

9 for Felicity, 13 for Verity, 3 for Penelope, if I've counted correctly!
5 negative Penelope votes, and one negative comment for each of the others. This is very helpful.
I think we are down to a 2 horse race, but will see what DH says...

So middle names wise, I'm not keen on a 'filler' so not Rose, Grace, May etc.

Can't have the following
Anything beginning with A,
Charlotte
Jane
Helen
Esme
Laura
Emma

I like Felicity. It's kind of aristocratic. Grin

Really not a fan of Penelope. It's sounds slightly comical to me, like a made up name in a sit com or something.

Felicity is slightly prissy but lots of nickname potentials, I like Fliss, Flick or Fizz.

Verity is nice. Girly without sounding pretentious. Would be my choice of the 3.

I really love the names Felicity and Verity but think Penelope is a rather clunky name and don't link the nickname penny but can't really put my finger on why. I also know three Penelope's among close family and friends children born in the last few years!!

And her initials are VET, she thinks it's great, she's determined to be a vet when she grows up too....

I have a Verity Elizabeth, love her name!

I like Felicity most, then Penelope. I'm not so keen on Verity, which feels too much like a pious virtue name to me.

Felicity Clare
Felicity Rachel
Felicity Kathryn
Felicity Rose?

I really can't stand Penelope. It sounds prissy and 'ploppy' all at once.

I would go for Verity, followed by Felicity.

Penelope v v popular at the moment if that's a factor!

Thanks for all the ideas, I think my current order of preference is
Verity
Felicity
Penelope

I think DH might be reverse order though! Will show him this thread and see if we come to an agreement.

Middle names can be problematic as surname begins with a T so vowels best avoided to prevent unfortunate three letter words! Felicity Ann definitely not a goer for example!

My dd is called Felicity Ellen. Penelope and Verity were on my list too, but Felicity just stood out that little bit more for me!

I think they are all beautiful. Rose or Anne make good middle names after a multi-syllable first name.

They are all lovely, but I think Verity is my favourite.

Verity Marguerite is a pretty combination, and uses a flower name a bit more unusal than Rose.

I don't like Penelope ( it's my nieces name though), I just think it's a bit stuffy and I don't like the way it looks written down - it looks like it should rhyme with antelope to me!

Penny is sweet though but I prefer your other choices. Verity is very nice!
