I know they're unusual, but we like them both Smile I prefer Texas and my partner likes Storm. Xx

I used to work at Selfridges with a girl called Storm. Never thought it was weird. Roman Keating's wife is also a Storm. I like it.

Texas is a bit too far though...

Aw please tell us the other names! I'd rather super out there names than dull and boring ones! I'd definitely go for Storm out of the two.

I think storm is a nice kind of unusual.
Not convinced about texts.
I do like storm.

I'm surprised how narrow minded and negative many are. Just because some of you have different taste, doesn't mean the op's daughter is not going to be happy being named Texas or Storm!

Neither name is my taste, but I would love to meet a little Texas or Storm and, as someone working in a school, it would make a refreshing change from all the little Evies, Ellies etc.!

Thankfully we all have different tastes - let's encourage more name diversity!

Storm,I love it,was going to have it for my daughter but as we had used more normal names for our other kids we didn't.
As much as I love my kids names if I could go back I would have named them more unusual names, I would have had

Casper
Oskar
Tuesday
Storm
Tate
Fabian

( I have 6 kids)

American place names? What about Dakota, Phoenix, Arizona or Carolina? They are really lovely imo. And it just sounds nicer than Texas... (imo)
I really like Dakota and Phoenix! :)

So, in my opinion: do not go with Texas!
But storms are just so destructive. I prefer Moon, Star, Rain, Snow, Meadow, Brooke, Wren, River etc.

However, it is your baby. So, it's not like my opinon matters.

Savannah is lovely!

Aw...thank you for the positive responses and opinions. I didn't know about Texas in Hollyoaks!! She's very pretty though, so maybe a good sign. We both like American place names, but Texas goes best with our surname. I also love the name Savannah, but sounds too long with the surname. I know 2 Storms who both love their names. Most of my friends like Texas the best (obviously not an ounce of class between us!)

I can't believe there are so many negative and rude people on here! I've spent many years employing people and looking at CVs and the candidates with unusual names always stand out from the crowd in a good way. To comment on someone's education, class and job because of their choice in baby names is just bonkers!

I don't like either and agree with all the comments made up thread. I also thought it was a joke post. Storm is marginally better but what if she is a shy and mousy type??

I did meet a girl called Dallas once which is ok and vastly preferable to Texas.

user you would wince if handed a CV with the name Storm on? Really!
How terribly shallow Confused

I do like Texas because of the SE Hinton novel :)

Report
Vixxfacee · 28/06/2016 11:01

I'd prefer Storm.

User 70 billion something- you are going around baby names trolling talking about class and jobs and just being a knob.

What are your other children's names?

Texas makes me think of rednecks. And hamburgers.

So, Storm it is.

Report
Onehellofaride · 28/06/2016 10:53

I don't particularly like either name however I knew 2 girls called Storm when I was at primary school and no one thought anything of the name. I'm in my late twenties.

I like Storm. I wouldn't mind being called Storm. Will work at infant school and as an adult when she has the confidence that comes with age. I'd just give her a more normal middle name in case it's too much through high school.

Texas is Hmm

Report
Nivea101 · 28/06/2016 10:45

I prefer more traditional names personally but out of the two I would say Storm. Texas sounds very butch and cowboyish. Yee haa!!

Report
TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 28/06/2016 10:44

Storm. Def not Texas. I went to uni with a girl called Storm. V unusual but nice I thought.

If you want an American state for a girl, maybe Georgia/Virginia/Dakota ? Don't think Wisconsin will work very well Grin and when you say Texas I make a mental association with Dallas, George Bush and the NRA, none of which are positive associations for a small child of any gender.

Report
NeedACleverNN · 28/06/2016 10:40

I quite like Texas. Prefer two syllable names to one so Storm would automatically be ruled out

Report
MyNewBearTotoro · 28/06/2016 10:38

Neither is to my taste but I think Texas works better for a girl, although maybe that's because there was a female character called Texas in Hollyoaks a few years back.

Supportive women! I'm sorry I don't support giving kids stupid names

Report
user1465823522 · 28/06/2016 10:12

Neither.

Honestly,.

You have to remember that when naming a child they have no say in it and will have to live with that name forever. Personally I would wince if handed a CV from someone called 'Storm'

They are both unprofessional and kinda flaky - why would you disadvantage a child from the start?

Report
rainbowstardrops · 28/06/2016 09:47

I really don't like Texas. Sorry!

I like unusual names and I quite like Storm but maybe not for a girl. It's a bit heavy and negative sounding to me.

I like nature names though like Brooke, Autumn, Meadow etc.

It's your baby though OP! Smile
