Alexa, Nicole, Pamela etc all just make me think of American fake breasts married to old men.

Sorry - I would rather any of the other names suggested tbh

I am a Nicole (late 30s) always quite liked it. Preferred it to Nicola. And wasn't keen on the weirdos who insisted on spelling it with an h.

I love names from that era and my 20 month old dd has a name from the same genre and era.

I have a aunt Alexa in her 60s so to me it's more dated.

I do have a very common very boring middle name though which I hate. It's 4 syllables and think something shorter works better with both.

Thanks so much everyone. My DD's name has been mentioned a few times as a suggestion so you're on the right track. Carina is another that we like. DH loves Nicole, I'm not sold on it. I like Alexa but he's not keen! There are very few others that we like enough to seriously consider. I like Sophia (too popular) and lots of 'L' names but as our DD is an L we are not too keen on another. Finding this so hard this time around!

Alexa is lovely. Nicole is just... either a bit frumpy or sleazy IMO (sorry, not sure why, but that's just what I associate).

What about Carina? Cora? Andrea?

Alexa, but I prefer Alexandra

I think they are both a bit dated, tbh! Are they names of friends or something, OP?

To be fair Nicole is pretty dated in the UK too. Maybe it's the memory of those 'Papa? Nicole?' Renault ads that give it a bit of a popularity boost.

Alexa or Nicole?

Alexa. That was our first choice for a while.

Surprised by the love for Nicole, mostly because it is sooo dated.

So is Alexa, tbf - although the impact seems less because it was much, much less common than Nicole

I'm 43 and about half my contemporaries were either Nicole, Michelle, Lisa or Kylie!

Quite possibly different in the UK though!

I like them both and I really wanted to be called Nicole when I was in primary school.

Alexa sounds pretentious like she has a brother called Hugo.

Nicole is better.
