Seriously irrelevant to me, but a family member is considering it and wondering on opinions.

I don't like it. Too much like Eric which I don't like.

I like Erica.
It's 'hardness' is what appeals to me.

I like Erica. I also really like Erin. There are so many flowery names around at the moment (lots of Poppies, Daisies, etc.), which are pretty, but at least with this one there's unlikely to be another child with the same name in their class at school!

Dislike, it has a 70's feel to it.

I really like it Smile it's on our list!

I've never been a fan of Erica, I think I find it quite masculine and harsh sounding.

I woulnt assume it was a family name. I would only think that if v unusual or old sounding name. Certainly not as a mans name added on. It's Scandinavia isn't it?

Beautiful underused name!

I like it, and like the association with heather.

I like it, and Eric too. Underused names. Along the same lines as Francesca, Ramona.

I wouldn't assume it.

Anyone remember Erica Jong? Her book had a profound influence on me :)

I like it; I wouldn't assume there was an Eric in the family...

I love Erica. It means heather.

I like it and am totally surprised it has never occurred to me as a name choice when naming my three.
Ds2's middle name is Eric after his grandad.
I have also read it so many times on this thread it had stopped sounding like a real name.

Love it. Maybe because I knew a French Erica and she was completely cool.

I really dislike it. And Eric.

It sounds harsh and not pretty at all.

I met an 8 year old Erica in the summer and she was gorgeous, a really quirky, bright little thing and the name was perfect on her. Since then I've loved it!

I adore the name Erica. Sounds pretty but substantial.

I don't like the name Eric, though.

It's nice, but you need to spell it

Airwrecker

Seriously, it's a refreshing change from elli/Elle/Ella/Ellie Eva/Evie/Ava...

I love Erica, it's a very strong name but I like that. It'll stand out amongst all the girly names that are popular at the moment like Poppy, Maisie etc.

Also, I don't think of it as just Eric with an a tacked on the end. I think it's Latin for heather or it's some species of heather anyway so it has its own history and meaning.
