Here's our shortlist, which changes on a daily basis ;)

Seb (Sebastian) definitely our current fave
Monty
Hugo
Albie (Albert)
Louis

Clara
Lara (Larissa)
Mimi (Emilia)
Poppy (Felix and Poppy sound too much like pet names?)
Beatrice
Cecily

What does everyone think?

Arggh we've got 10 minutes before we register Seb and we've still not decided on a full name! I didn't like John Louis as it sounds too much like John Lewis so we're now settled on: Sebastian Louis John or Sebastian Rufus John?

Sebastian has arrived Smile, we are now struggling with middle names. Felix has two so we'd like two again. We are thinking Sebastian John Louis, what does everyone think?

Saffron is lovely, I know it's really difficult to come up with boys names. A few people have said good luck coming up with something that fits with Felix Confused

We also have a Felix and expecting DC2. If it's a girl she will be Saffron, however really stuck on boys names. DH has vetoed all my suggestions (Dexter, Jasper, Casper, Toby) and his only suggestion so far has been Phineus (sp?) and Kit (not copying the Rooney's!)

Louis biased
Emilia

Both lovely!

I like Monty best from your boy suggestions.

What about Caspar / Casper? I think that goes well with Felix.

Clara / Lara I really like, personally I think Lara just edges it for me. It's just a bit softer and prettier.

Excellent thanks everyone, we love Monty but just worry that Felix and Monty sound like pet names.

Luckily the little one hasn't arrived yet! Confused

Sebastian - nooo, I really dislike Seb! Sebastian is okay
Monty - like this, but wouldn't use it (goes lovely with Felix)
Hugo - nice
Albert - growing on me, but eh
Louis - love it

Clara - not keen (I do love Ciara)
Larissa - nope
Emilia - I love it (I like the NN Millie)
Poppy - I like it and I don't think they do
Beatrice - hate it, Bea is a cute NN, but I find the full name rather unappealing!
Cecily - I went to school with one, it's okay

I don't mind Seb so much, we just weren't sure about Sebastian and with Angus we could have the nn Gus.
Although we don't have any Scottish connections which I can see us being asked.

Monty and Angus are MUCH nicer and stronger sounding than Seb, which sounds so weak and like sebacious (oily) to my ears.

I still think Lara is nicer than Clara and avoids pronunciation issues.

I'd go with Angus if Seb isn't intended as a nn for Sebastian.

Stick with Seb! (It's much nicer than Monty or Angus IMHO)

I like Clara Beatrice Nancy best of your latest shortlist.

With this little one due to arrive in 2 weeks, we are having second thoughts about boys names.

We're now thinking about Monty or Angus, or should we just stick with Seb?

I think we've finally decided on a name Smile

Just the middle names now,

Clara Emilia Nancy
Clara Beatrice Nancy
Clara Nancy Allegra

and amazingly we're still sticking to Seb, I can't believe this baby might have a name when it arrives!

Seb (Sebastian) definitely our current fave - quite like it, put off by some drippy Sebs I knew in my youth
Monty - nn not full name IMHO
Hugo - LOVE!
Albie (Albert) - dustman
Louis - Sun King. Or that chap on the X-Factor. No.

Clara - pretty
Lara (Larissa) - I find Lara and bit spiky
Mimi (Emilia) - Love Emilia, but v popular. Mimi is a bit cutsey for me
Poppy (Felix and Poppy sound too much like pet names?) - LOVE, but maybe too nn-y?
Beatrice - YES! Perfect
Cecily - lovely too

(Love Felix too!!)

Thanks again for your help everyone, I like Jemima and Stella, I also really like Sophia but realise it's quite popular.
George sounds great with Felix and Seb is still a favourite - just :/

I like Louis and Clara from your list, but a friend has just had a Felix and her first son is George - I think they sound brilliant together.

Or Scarlett, nickname Letty?

Report
ThumbWitchesAbroad · 05/10/2015 08:25

If he likes Hetty, what about Letty, short for L(a)etitia? I know it's been a bit popularised by Letitia Dean and Latisha versions but it's still a nice name.
