As title says.

Not particularly looking for opinions on likeability, but what comes to mind if you hear the name Tobias?

And do you read/pronounce it TOW-BEE-AS or TO-BIAS?

Thanks :)

Just to add, I've heard it out and about in my city and we're WC Liverpool.

I have s Nephew called this, ta popular with those that would choose the likes of Sebastian, or Florence.

It's the name of a cartoon character on the Amazing world of Gumball and its a popular name amongst "Alternative", Emo/Goth youngsters, when naming pets, Sims etc.

Really like it but only if pronounced Tow-be-aas, I can't bear the other pronounciation. Considered this for DS but disregarded it as I knew most people here would pronounce it To-bias. DH is German and if we lived there we may well have gone with it! Not too keen on Toby as nn but could probably live with it. I would say it sounds pretty middle class rather than ultra posh.

Thanks all :) much appreciated!

Seems the consensus is its a posh name or wannabe posh name. And possibly middle aged man. That's fine, I don't mind that!

I'd think of Tobias/Four from divergent trilogy too, though a few more of him wandering around wouldn't be a bad thing!

Tow-bye-as

I think of a lovely blonde boy I know with the name (although he is known as Toby or Tobes unless in trouble!)

A jar of homemade Seville marmalade with a gingham top is what I think of. (Tubby and homely, I suppose.)
