For our dd2 who will be here in about 8 weeks. So yes we've got time but after 31 weeks of pregnancy we're still nowhere near decided!

Her first name will be Emilia (em-ee-lee-ya) last name also begins with E.

Need a monosyllabic middle name that's not one of these as they've all been vetoed by one of us!

Grace (only as it's dd1's middle name I love it)
Rose
Kate
Claire
Fleur
Jade
Jane
Paige
Maud
Joan
Anne
Hope
Faith
Beth
May/maye
Fay/faye
June

So yes, virtually every monosyllabic name! Help!!

I once looked after a little girl called Octavia-Star. Not to everyone tastes but it suited her Smile

'Beau' is the French word for beautiful (male). For beautiful (female) it is 'Belle'. So it just seems a bit odd to call a girl 'Beau'.

'Bo' - well that's different, think maybe it's Scandinavian or something?

Beau is unisex ! (Beau/Bow/Bo)

ha...!! I didn't realise it was you that had started the post until I just saw your most recent comment!! Grin

Some people really are dicks.

Anyway... I like Kate... I added Amelia Kate to our list after DH suggested Katie for a first name. I think our daughter really actually might be called his... DH just doesn't know this yet. He likes Amy but we can shortern Amelia to Amy.

Jane is my least fave from your list... top fave still Rose though.

I'm put off the board too MrsRV some people seriously need to get a life!! I'm glad you're getting there with your name choice.

I've managed to pull back three previously vetoed middle names so we're down to
Emilia Jane (my mum keeps scowling whenever mentioned)
Emilia Claire
Emilia Kate (dp's aunts name who he doesn't exactly see eye to eye with but also my best friend's name).

Emilia Clare or Tess are lovely but Emilia Wren won it for me Smile

tea1Sug... I started the thread about same middle names for siblings. Didn't go diwn well with the mumsnet lot. but tgen again I've just been reading a thread in pregnancy about "demonising" of pubes or the removal of pubes, or something. Anyway, hence I have returned to good old baby names. We're back to Amelia... but also can't think of middle name. I also love Rose but it's DD's middle name. And Grace is nice to but is niece's middle name & just a bit reluctant to copy.

We also need monosyllabic as will just flow better.

Emilia Beau??

Jane goes really well, I think. Simple and classic. Ignore your Mum!

But I thought it was on your vetoed list?

IMO Emilia is quite 'frilly' so a simpler mn like Jane balances it nicely.

Love Emilia Charlotte. If it's between Jane and Charlotte I would go with the latter. I think it's fine with a three syllable surname.

Thoughts on Emilia Jane? Too old fashioned? "Plain"? Sounds like Little House on the Prairie according to mum!

we pondered ds's middle name for ages and eventually choose something we liked at the last minute just before registering.

In hindsight wish I'd chosen a name that meant something rather than one that sounded right as a middle name is very rarely used/said. Wish I'd used my maiden name (which can also be a Scottish first name) as his middle name, or my dads name so a little bit of our family was handed down to him in his name.

Can you use you mum's or maybe grans name/a maiden name?

I really really want Rose but it's the name of dp's nightmare boss so he's vetoed it.

I also love Grace (dd1's middle name) but dp thinks dd2 should have her own. I read a recent thread on here about siblings with the same middle name - interesting!

The reason we are going for a monosyllabic one is Emilia obviously has 4 syllables and our surname has 3 so already long.

I like May but it's another 'm' sound which there'll be in first and last name so sounds bit much.

Thanks for all the suggestions I like:
Fay
Tess (is that a name in itself though or Tessa?)
Clare
Kate
But going against all our 'criteria' I love Charlotte.

Lord know why a middle name is so difficult!

These are nowhere near monosyllabic but I like the sound of Emilia Rosalind and Emilia Frances...
