Full name for Annie?

Hi! Dd2 coming in 6 weeks and DH and I have been majorly struggling for a name. We both love Annie but in my view id like a more formal version as her full name.

I find Ann a bit dull, love Annabel but dd1 is Isobel so that's out. We both love Marianne but is that a bit too unusual? Any other suggestions? Girls names are hard! Thanks for your help, need inspiration!

Thanks all, like the positive comments about Marianne and Annie as nn. Not going to get her a ginger curly wig and big fluffy dog though.

Fairly sure we're going to go for that - suggestions have helped confirm so many thanks xxx

Dd was going to be Annabel or Anneliese. We plumped for Annabel. Anneliese would be lovely

I love Marianne! And I love nicknames that are slightly unexpected.

Schmoochy I love Antonia too, it's a beautiful timeless name.

yeh it would have been unfashionable when I was growing up in 70s and 80s but same goes for a lot of names that sound nice now but were old lady names when we were young

My nn through life was/is Annie. I hated it. All old people would say Annie get your gun. And at school it was Annie Fanny or Granny Annie :( not nice. Would def have it as a longer name so she can use that if she wants.

I really don't like Annie. Mostly because of the sodding musical. But so long as people avoid singing "Tomorrer, tomorrer, I love yer, tomorrer" around her, she should be fine.

Marianne is beautiful by the way but not sure that Annie is an obvious nick name, but so what, you call her Annie from day one.

I was going to suggest Annabel or Anneliese so now I have read your post, I say Anneliese That was on my list. I love it.

I love Annie as it is. It was my great grandmother's name, not short for anything.

Annmarie or Anya would be lovely. Annalise is another very pretty name xx

Marianne is my name and the only person who's ever shortened it was my dad who often called me Annie.

I also love Anneka and Anouk which would shorten nicely to Annie

Aneka as in Aneka Rice?

She is called Annie as a nickname.

I once met someone called Annesofie (all one word, with the stress on the Anne, ANN-so-fi) and thought it was rather a lovely name. Marianne is pretty too, but there's always the risk your daughter may choose to use the full name or her friends may later choose a different shortened form (Mari) to Annie, as it's not an obvious nickname.

Marianne is a beautiful name, and perfect for the nicknmae Annie. Gets my vote.

I think Marianne is just gorgeous, and goes perfectly with Isobel. It makes me think of Sense and Sensibility too, which is a nice association.

Antoinette
Antonia
Agnes .( pronounced French wise, Anyas)

But I would just have Anne. Graceful and dignified, with Annie as the nn

I'm Annie-Marie but I've shortened it to Annie tbh learning to spell my name as a kid was a nightmare better off keeping it short anyways as its not as much of a mouthful to say either
