Primrose is one of my favourite girls names.

However I wouldn't use as I would hate to be a 40 year old woman called Primrose. I would feel daft every time I said my name.

Agree with Cloudkitten about Virginia - don't do it to the poor child.

I love Genevieve (and would try to encourage Ginny as a nn even though not totally natural as I adore it!).

Primrose think is a really sappy wet kind of name.

Virginia (whilst getting you Ginny), unfortunately just makes me think of virgin/ vagina. The o my people I've known to wear it well are American (not sure why though!).

Primrose.

Genevieve is OK but people will pronounce it different.

Virginina - I knew one and all through school she was known as fanny aor vagina - childish I know but thats how it was.

I agree don't use Virginia! I like Primrose. My neighbour was called Virginia. To her face that was her name. Behind her back all the Tweens right up to twenty year olds called her Vagina. Not that people didn't like her. Just immature! I found it hilarious I'm ashamed to say

Maybe not 'inevitable' but pretty bloody likely that the name Virginia will encourage teasing and/or smirking.

Why take the risk? So unnecessary, so unkind.

No, it isn't inevitable as I know from my own schoolfriend's experience. She'd likely get shortened to Ginny anyway.

I've said it before but I must say it again, do not call your daughter Virginia. You may think it's elegant and feminine, she will be teased, maybe not bullied, but definitely teased.

I hadn't thought about the tobacco ... If she's blonde people could call her Golden Virginia Grin that sounds rather glamorous

Enjoy: those children grow up to be childish adults you mention!

Also, children are not usually that knowledgeable about virgins, sex, tobacco brands or American states :)

Primrose

Please don't do Virginia, no matter how much you like it it really does conjure up the following:

Virgin
Sex
Tobacco
American state.

Nothing exactly overly pleasant/appealing.

Genevieve is not especially attractive IMHO either. Will end up being Genny, which sets my teeth on edge with the G vs J think, a bit like Ginnifer (uurrgh) and will involve a lifetime of spelling out and its just so boring (I have a short name that still requires spelling out and it is thoroughly tedious).

I like the idea of Genevieve but I don't really know how to pronounce it correctly Blush. I'd say it like Jen-iv-eve, is that wrong?

Primrose is also very nice, but I do think Virginia would leading to teasing.

Virginia is the most beautiful of the three names, by a long way. I was at school with a Virginia and no one ever teased or bullied her over her name. Children are often less childish than adults.

Primrose is just lovely :)

I really thought that said Vagina when I was scrolling down! Nooo!

Think Primrose 'goes' with Tabitha but also think it's a bit wet...

Primrose is lovely and goes well with Tabitha.

NOT Virginia, or she will be bullied mercilessly.

Definitely Genevieve (I also have a Tabitha).

I think it would be unkind to name a child Virginia, the teasing would be inevitable.

Genevieve is my favourite, then Primrose. Not a fan of Virginia though.

Genevieve for me too, not Virginia, just imagining the 'are you are virgin' comments all through secondary school.

I love Primrose, and I know a Tabitha who almost had a younger sister Primrose (she ended up a Marigold in the end after a few days of Primrose).
Not keen on Virginia at all, and don't like the pronounciation confusion that is possible with Genevieve.
