Out of interest will Georgia(which I love!!!!!) or Georgina gain popularity due to Prince George of Cambridge? Everyone seems to love George so why not Georgina/Georgia?

I loved Georgia and it was on our shortlist. Hoping to have another girl anyway so I'd not be put off using it.

Georgia was hugely popular from about 1995-2000. I don't think it will come back the same.

Whoops! ... Am not sure now if it's going to peak. But not sure that matters anyway.

I doubt Georgia will get more popular. It's popular enough now, but imo it's had it's day (not saying it'll go down, just don't think it'll go up much more).
Georgina I personally love, but whenever I've asked about it people have always said 'it's dated' or 'it's like you wanted a boy!' annoying whiney voice. That could see a rise, but it's not particularly popular as it is.

I was reading earlier that the name Victoria was far nearer 100 than 1 during Queen V's reign, except in jubilee years, when she died, and times of particular patriotism (because of war), so if female Georg- names do become more popular it may well not last for more than a year. I know I'll have forgotten about him in a month or two.

I think it's sounds feminine without being too girly if you catch my drift?

Just never call a Georgia, Georgina! My sister goes round the bend when people get it wrong!

I think there will be a surge now, I think the name Georgia is underrated

Probably. But they're popular names already, Georgina especially (around here.)

I teach so many that we have to have: Georgina, Georgia, Georgie, Giggi, Ginny, Genie and Gina!

My Georgia said "Oh no, now I can't marry him - George and Georgia sounds stupid together!"

DD2 (7) is a Georgia and she is thrilled. in her words 'how lovely they have named the baby prince after an ordinary girl called Georgia' Smile

Both Georgia and Georgina had a peak in popularity in the late 90s and have declined in use quite rapidly since then.

Georgia was ranked 10th in 1997. If the popularity of Georgia does pick up a bit since the royal George, I can't imagine it will get that popular again.

Georgia is in the top 100 already and it will probably become even more popular now. It's a lovely name though.

I really hope it doesn't get too popular. Georgia is our favourite girls name at the mo!

I was just wondering this as my little girl is Georgia (and coincidently shares her birthday with Prince George!)

I think it might, its a gorgeous name Smile. Cant see it reaching the top 10 though x
