These are the current short list. Big brother has an Old Testament name which is relatively popular at the moment.

Thanks in advance!

Sylvie even!

This is an extremely good shortlist. I vote for Sadie or Juliet, both of which I've strongly considered in the past

I have a 2 year old Sylvie who gets complimented on her name. It suits her and us as slightly vintage alternative parents, but who don't want to be considered utter middle class twonks with a hideously contrived moniker for their daughter. Oh and it was nowhere near the top 100 popular names. Juliet is very pretty too.

Thea is beautiful! Had never considered it myself until now... Love esme too though. Good choices!

I love Juliet but probably wouldn't go for it myself as I really don't like Julie for some weird reason, and feel it would probably be an inevitable nickname...

Couldn't possibly comment lol.

Thea apparently getting popular (shock horror) but we've never met another face to face.

Ooh! My daughter is Juliet and Thea was on my longlist too Grin

In order I think:

Juliet, Thea, Sylvie, Esme.

I see Thea a fair bit and know a few Esme's under 18, but Juliet and Sylvie will be fairly underused if you are keen on that idea!

Sylvie, or better yet, Sylvia.

I find boys names a bit harder, I don't tend to like as many. Leo and Zachary are probably my favourites.
OH would quite like an Irish name for a boy so we've also considered Cian, Ciaran and Sean. Good luck choosing Smile

They are all beautiful. Proceed with my full blessing on any of them. Grin

Juliet or Sylvie.

Too many Esmes around here. Juliet or Sylvie - or Sylvia?

I have an Esme and couldn't give a hoot about the pronounciation issue. Most people get it if I bother correcting them, some will never get it. It really doesn't bother me. There are far more important things to get worked up about.

Other names I liked were Harriet, Esther, Lucia, Clara.

All beautiful names - would agree with the pronouncing issue of Esme - could be really annoying.

What are your boy names?

I have an Esme, other names we considered and never got to use due to the rest of DC all being boys...

Thea
Alethea
Verity

Thanks everyone! Some great comments there.

Feta, out of interest, what are your favourite boys names? I am intrigued to ask as we clearly have the same taste in girls names!!

Thanks in advance x

I love this list, we have the same taste! I can't use Thea because my OH is Irish and he said it would be pronounced Tia by him and family, and my mum is Sylvia so will be mn. I love Esme though pn es-mee, dislike es-may. Juliet is pretty too. My order:
Thea
Esme,
Sylvie (prefer long name Sylvia)
Juliet

They're all pretty. I'd probably avoid Esme because generally the arguments about how to pronounce and whether it's French or not (it isn't Grin) and if it should have an accent etc, are quite annoying. A friend has an Esme and says it's 50/50 as to whether their pronunciation is used and they get told they're wrong by the 50% who disagree.

Juliet and Thea are lovely. Maybe decide what baby looks like

I like them all apart from Esme.

I think Thea pips Sylvie and Juliet to the post
