There are so many Lucas and Lukas out there.

How about Luc or Luca? But honestly if you don't like anybody them don't settle for one.

willyoulistentome yes, it's one of those excellent names that I just can't understand why it's not more popular. I think people are put off it because it's too like Mark. Which is so so so so so popular for men my age. Seriously half of my friends' husbands are called Mark! Marcus was one of the few names my x and I agreed on but it sounded dreadful with the sur name. Only for that there would be another Marcus out there. Your Marcus gets a great name and the privilege of being one of so few!

Sorry. Grin

I am ambivalent about Marcus, but for some reason Luke is one of those names I have alwys disliked. There is something about the sound it makes that bothers me. When I hear it I can't help thinking 'Luke = Liver fluke' Confused

Plus my son had a friend called Luke and he was a PITA.

I love Marcus.

The other two are a bit affected/bland. Marcus good strong Roman name, go for that.

I have a Marcus so a bit biased. Funnily enough my Marcus has two mates called Luke and Sebastian, (and none of them are limp wristed)

DH = Markus and love his name (he's German hence k sp). I'm currently 29 weeks pregnant with dc2, Sebastian nn Seb is our top boys name. Prefer Luca or Lucas to Luke. Having said that agree you need to like name too. Good luck!

Lucky your DH, getting his own way by virtue of refusing to compromise... Hmm

Like you, I don't actually like any of them, but if forced at gunpoint, would chose Luke and Sebaastian from his list.

My brother is called Luke, and I've always loved Sebastian, if we're having a boy we've put that on a short list :)

Report
Still18atheart · 26/03/2013 12:04

I love all three especially Sebastian

CruCru · 26/03/2013 11:54

I like Luke and Sebastian but if you don't, don't settle. It will make you very bad tempered.

I have no wish to be offensive to gay people. I have actually just emailed my DD's godfather (gay), my DD's godmother (gay), my cousin (gay) and one of my best friends from college (gay) to see if they think "limp-wristed" is an appalling term of homphobic abuse only used nowadays by ignorant dinosaurs.

SoupDreggon · 25/03/2013 15:48

I missed the bit where you said you don't like any of them.

In this case you need to start again with a fresh list. Don't get bullied into choosing a name you don't like.
