Can't tell if I find it posh or think it sounds made up...

Sounds like the start of xylophone.

my daughter is Xanthe and everyone loves it. I always have positive comments.

Sorry but I think it's horrible - and Xyla would have to spend the rest of their life telling people how to spell it or how to pronounce it.

Sashapineapple · 23/02/2013 12:45

It sounds like an additive not a girls name.

MidnightMasquerader · 23/02/2013 08:08

Put it this way... it doesn't sound posh.

meditrina · 23/02/2013 06:19

I thought woody too (xylem)

mathanxiety · 23/02/2013 05:58

Sounds like a laxative to me.

PixelAteMyFace · 23/02/2013 00:24

Sounds wooden to me.

Xanthe sounds posh. Xyla sounds like the parents already have 23 children, and like different initials for each.

xylo is Greek for 'wood', not an easy name to be saddled with.

Xanthe is nice (but I live too close to the city of that name to be able to choose it!)

Oooh I like Xanthe - go with that OP.

Not Xyla.

It's a brand of sweetener: Xyla

Xanthe?

StephaniePowers · 22/02/2013 11:17

I like Xenia (the name, obviously Grin )
Xyla means 'wooden' doesn't it?

MolotovCocktail · 22/02/2013 11:17

I prefer Xiola (zy-ola) but to be honest, I think that names beginning with 'X' just don't look right. Perhaps this is because they're so rare in the UK and Ireland.

Rhubarbgarden · 22/02/2013 11:16

Phone.

Report
DaveMccave · 22/02/2013 10:57

It does sound made up to me to be honest. What about Zia or Skylar?

Report
therugratref · 22/02/2013 10:45

Sounds like a food additive not a person. Sorry.

Report
BabyRoger · 22/02/2013 10:37

I don't think it sounds posh. I do think.it sounds made up.and I also just want to say phone.

navada · 22/02/2013 10:35

Kyla is a beautiful name.

Report
jellybeans · 22/02/2013 10:25

Not keen. I do like Myla and Kyla though.

FannyPriceless · 22/02/2013 09:57

Snap, lljkk! I was exactly going to come on and say it sounds like a weight loss drug! That's bizarre, but obviously suggests there is a connection.

Hideous.

I know a Xia. Better. Still a bit odd.

It's awful.

I think it sounds made up, not posh.
