Anyone going to the knitting expo at Ally Pally today?

I'm quite foolishly excited about this!

I can't quite believe that I'm making a 2h+ train journey with multiple changes to go to a show where I won't be able to afford spending gazillions of £££ on all the lovely luscious yarns and tools that I never knew I needed.

Anyone else going?

I am my name on Ravelry but I'll come and find you!

I'd be well up for Earl's Court - pref Friday but Saturday also fine.

Aahhhhhhhh Bertha (I so want to shorten your name to Bigboobie Grin), the yarn thing...it's like Godfather 3: you think you've got free and then they drag you back in. GrinGrinGrin

Welcome back to the darkside my friend, welcome back.

Thank you roguepixie. Smile

I probably shouldn't have joined - I have been dragged back into the lost world of Ravelry now and with 20 balls of Drops Lima DK to put to good use.

I suppose if I never wanted to go out again I could then pin everything I find on Ravelry onto Pinterest.

And isn't like I don't have piles of knitting magazines to look at as well, kept just in case I need a pattern one day.

Is it any wonder I have a huge stash and very little to show for it. Life would be a lot easier if I couldn't read about knitting and sewing quite so much and actually spent the time doing. Blush

Hi BigBobbiedBertha (love the name) Grin.

No, this group is different - I will send you an invite on Ravelry. You can join us if you'd like.

Have asked to join the FB group (initials DS)

How do I join the Ravelry one as well? Are you the same as the Mumsknitters? I am already a member of that group and there seems to be some new posts on there for the first time in ages. I'm getting all confused now.Confused

I'm Hattrickchick on Ravelry

And I might be interested in Olympia in March but there is the Quilt show and the woolly show, Unravelled, both in Farnham Maltings in January and February. Does anybody They aren't massive shows but the woolly one in particular is expensive but very gorgeous yarn and if it is too close to Olympia I might not have any pennies left.

I'd love to go to the march expo - doubt I can justify the costs, but you never know! I'm also interested in the yarnaholics fb page (I don't get ravelry really) - is it ok if i ask to join? initials are FK :)

Perhaps we could do both: Ravelry and FB?

Report
ILoveAFullFridge · 16/10/2013 13:58

Don't like Facebook, either. Like Ravelry, though!

I could probably only do the Saturday date for next year's expo.

Can't do FB!! Don't understand it at all.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 16/10/2013 12:23

Or maybe a FB page? To be honest, I go on FB more often than I go on Ravelry.

Report
roguepixie · 16/10/2013 10:27

By the way, not sure if this is necessary as we all talk on here but is anyone interested in starting a MN Yarn Club on Ravelry? Their criteria states that 3 people need to join in order for it to be a 'go'. Am happy to have a go at setting it up if there is enough interest.

Also, will get back to you all re: Olympia.

now why didn't I think of selling a child Grin I think go for both ILove, it would be wasteful not to take advantage of the extra space!

pmed you rogue Smile

ILoveAFullFridge · 13/10/2013 23:19

I figure that if I sell a child I could not only put the proceeds towards a quilting machine, but also free up the space for it. Sorted!

There was another, smaller machine which looked like an over-sized ordinary sewing machine positioned with the main body of the machine furthest away from you. That one was less than £2K. If I'm going to make space for the bigger machine, I might as well get the smaller one, too. Or would that perhaps be a bit extravagant?
