OK, so I am about 3 years out of date on this but still. Just been chatting on another thread about how the bit when Carrie says 'and then I got to thinking...' and you see her type some inane crap.

HATE HATE HATE the film with a vengeance.

It's so fluffy and crap. I don't even get the excitement about the clothes.

Carrie - an explosion in a boutique.
Samantha - Stacey Slater's market stall clothes
Miranda - Next suits
Charlotte - Boden.

series - YADBU

film - possibly YANBU; I was a huge fan of the series, saw every episode etc, went to see the film and felt frankly a bit 'meh' about it...I think I was SO disappointed in Big over the wedding that I couldnt forgive him even if Carrie did, and that kind of spoilt the rest of the film for me

YANBU it's patroninsing and dated and even shows reverse sexism in my mind; women kind of behaving like men thinking its hip and cool and commenting on themselves and other women as if they were men if that makes sense?

GetOrf, agree with you Kim Cattral comes across as a lovely sensitive person in real life, I thought the episode of Who Do You Think You Are when she found out all about her errant Grandfather was the best in the series.

Sex in the City is OK for some fluffy telly watching I think Carrie gets a bit boring going on about shoes, life or whatever, I like Miranda though.

It's not vacuous! It's fun!

YABU

Are you a single girl?

If not- you won't get it at all!

It was amusing in the early days when DH and I would sit there saying 'WTF is she wearing this week' but I find her voice-overs embarrassing. She is supposd to be a grown-up woman who can hold down a high-powered job in competitive NYC but sits in her bedroom doing teenagery meaning-of-life musings.

I have never seen a single episode of sex and the city and never seen the film.

My ex-best friend was always trying to get me into it and tried to blackmail me, when she was unhappy (one of the reasons for ex!) to watch it with me cos she knew I hated it!!

Oh yes, I like Harry too. And I liked Carry the least, she was, after all, a big pita.
ANd how hideous Petrovsky was... with his "little house in Santorini"!

all the chraters are gay guys in essence

Report
CybilLiberty · 30/10/2009 17:30

I like Miranda (despite the eating with her mouth open)

I like Harry , Steve and the gay guys

SJP's acting is todallly OTT in most scenes, she tries to be too cutesy.

But it's an easy on the eye and brain half and hour. rather that than Sky Sports

i can't relate to the shoes part of it, i mean, i like shoes, yes, but would never spend as much as they do on a pair

I haven't seen the movie.
But I loved how the series ended for Miranda, her showing sympathy for Steve's mother etc.

I liked the series but the film was urgh.

I found Carrie really unlikeable, on the Mexico honeymoon one of her friends was dealing with a marriage break up and Carrie was lolling around going 'will I ever laugh again' so dramatic.

Hated the way Miranda and Carrie were shown too - women who wanted Too Much and so they got what they Deserved.

I loved the series, hated the film.

God knows how they'll manage to find new plot strands for the next one, the last one was contrived enough.

My friend is just like Charlotte. Took me five years to teach her to swear.

She only liked Big for his money. He was still arseing her about in the film FFs.
