Husband thinks he caught sti from toilet seat

Husband used public toilet in a hotel/bar a week ago whilst I waited for him in the car a week ago and came out with the entire front of his trousers soaking wet, he said he done the business then when stood up he noticed something like semen on his penis which had touched the under side of the toilet seat. He then proceeded to wash his penis in the sink, hence why his trousers were wet. He now has tenderness and a heaviness in his scrotum. He has an appointment with doctor booked for today, am I being totally unreasonable in my thoughts you probably can't catch diseases from public toilet??
