use words like f*k and c*t just get a reaction? I bet these posters are probably very well-spoken at home.

Or perhaps they are just too inarticulate to think of other ways to express themselves?

For the record I believe swearing is both a art when done well, and a pleasure to behold.

Furthermore, it is a legitimate expression of feelings and a descriptive tool.

It is obviously not an indicator of stupidity or attention seeking in mners.

But it is a class thing

Fuckbeans! well rumbled Des mate.

And may I just bow down to your call a cunt a cunt comment. Inspired, truly inspirational

No challenge but possibly bored a teeny teeny bit.

Also, ahem, therefor doing a bit of ramdon navel gazing and discovered this year I have sworn an estimated 102 times on mn.

--------------
66 fucks/fucking/fuckity
21 bollocks
12 shits
and
3 cunts

Could this be a new mn ticker?

Since both fuck and cunt have been part of the English parlance for at least a thousand years, I don't see how anyone's trying to get a reaction by using them.

Nor do I think it's necessarily inarticulate. It is good to call a spade a spade. It's even better to call a cunt a cunt.

I swear like a trooper in my own head all the time. But not aloud.

It's very nice to be able to swear on MN

Which certain posters?

Yes of course YABU. People use words like FUCK and CUNT because they are perfectly adequate words. Using them doesn't preclude people from being articulate, on the contrary, sometimes the articulate use of FUCK is just what's called for.

I don't like seeing it in thread titles as my dd has a habit of creeping up on me and reading over my shoulder.

Some interesting replies there. Mmm, so do you think that some swearing is a good expression of thoughts or emotion? Is there a line? Or should it be a free for all swear-a-thon?

I swear more in rl than on here. I'm Irish, it is part of my heritage
Seriously though people in Ireland swear much more than in the UK, even relatively well-spoken people swear as a matter of course. When I first came to the UK I was working in a restaurant and realised people were looking at me funny because I swore too much (staff that is, not even I would casually swear at customers)
When I go home now I really notice it.
