AIBU?

To pick your brains about a TV series

I'm trying to identify this. Maybe 15-20 years ago. Probably a terrestrial channel.

Short series, ghosts/creepy weirdness set on a farm, I think Edwardian or 20s. Farmhouse, barn.

A pond (maybe millpond) featured a lot in it, drowned people.

Any ideas please?

Thank you all for your suggestions.

It was The Living and the Dead. Not as long ago as I thought, but a fantastic series. Available on Prime for a couple of quid, so that's going on my winter list.

@keeprunningupthathill I was going to say that! The Living and the Dead, it starred Colin Morgan, who was Merlin and has recently been in Belfast and lots of other stuff.

It was brilliant. Genuinely spooky and atmospheric and that twist near the end.!...
. I wanted to find out what happened next so much so I was gutted when they didn't recommision it. So much crap does get multiple series.

I suppose it was expensive to make, with the period detail etc.

The Secret of Crickley Hall? Was on BBC ten years ago.

It wasn't A Pattern of Roses, was it? It's a TV movie rather than a series but does have a pond and ghosts.

It was quite good anyway 😅 they set it up for another series but never made it!

Reminds me of a series called the living and the dead, set on a farm in Edwardian times (I think) - car had crashed into a pond and someone was haunting them from the future or some such? It was only about 6 or 7 years ago though.

Thank you, but it's not Mill on the Floss.

When you say "mill" it makes me think of Mill on the Floss, but I don't think there were any ghosts in that.

They drowned in the end I think. BBC TV Series 1978 from wiki.

The only one I can think of is The Mill on the Floss but that was in the 80s I think.
