To be utterly baffled by the range of robot vacuums?

I've been tempted by MN reviews and prime day deals. I want to bite the bullet and get one. We both work full-time and have a toddler, if the robot is any good it could be an excellent time saver. BUT there are so many variables, remote control, app control additional Alexa control, boundary strips, random movements Vs mapping, do I need I've that also sweeps and mops, would that just be a jack of all trades that does nothing especially well?
I am so confused about what I actually need and what's just a bell/whistle that's not essential. We have three reception rooms a large hall and kitchen downstairs where it will be used mainly. I don't want to pay for an all singing all dancing model if I don't need to. I've looked at eufy, coredy, ecovac deebot.
Anyone have any particular models, issues or wishlists with the one they've got? What should I be looking for?
I realise this isn't strictly an AIBU but prime day finishes soon and I'm making myself dizzy with vacuum stats.

Roborock allows you to set 'no go zones' on the app rather than using physical strips on the floor.

I'm a Roborock fan and if you have a large tiled/wooden/hard floor area you would be mad not to get a dual hoovering and mopping option i.m.h.o.
Mapping is also important.

I have a Bagotte. It has mapping and remote access. The house is much cleaner since we got it as DH puts it on most days. You do have to move stuff if you want a proper job but there are some barrier strips you can use, for example to keep it away from tangle wire corner.

Most of my floor is covered in a thick rug which has never looked better. I have 2 cats. The drawer is full of cat hair because they are both moulting

I have an eufy 30c. Hard floors and rugs. It does a better job than me but I don't love cleaning!
I set him off every day and he wanders around like a drunk man but finds his way back to base with a full drawer
Friend has a fancier model but the results seem the same. She locks hers in each room. I let mine wander freely

My eufy G10 arrived yesterday and I've tested out both the hoovering and mop functionality. It cleans pretty well on the spots it gets too but I have to say it really does not like furniture and doesn't seem to be able to cope with a decent clean unless the floor is clear of furniture. In my kitchen I have an island, a dining table and a few other floor standing items. It struggled to clean the area around these.

I actually bought this for my MIL who lives in a hot country and has tiled floor. I think for her it's a good buy and I will give it to her but for me after testing this I think it is easier for me to just whip out the hoover and mop rather than move all the chairs out the way. I paid £80 from Amazon warehouse. No way would I pay £200 which is the normal brand new price. It cleans reasonably well but I can't cope with clearing the floor everytime I set it up.

Yes he's here, I ran him straight out of the box and it was very random, then set up the app while he was charging and set him off now having on straight lines and the map shows he's covered the dining room, living room, morning room and hall pretty well, we have a step into the kitchen so I'll put him in there in a bit. Bit disappointed he's a bit too big to fit between the legs of dining chairs so I have to lift them onto the table which isn't the lack of effort I was hoping for! I'm hoping with the mapping he'll learn the rooms but who knows

I ordered the Eufy 30C Max for £200 (Prime Day deal) and was very excited to try it out. It's impressive BUT it does seem very random and now I'm wishing I'd got the G30 for the mapping. So I'd be interested to hear how you get on with yours!

I'm also not particularly impressed by its ability to avoid obstacles, it's bashed into various things The sensors/bumpers seem very low down so if there are tapered legs or whatever I don't think they work very well. Has anyone else had an issue with this? Or can recommend one that's good at avoiding obstacles?

I’ve got a Eufy 30c, it generally works well. Next time I’ll get one with mapping as mine seems to love cleaning under the sofas and sometimes misses odd areas.

I have a 360, mine is the entry model C50.

It's basic but it does work very well. Tbh I use the remote more than the app on my phone as its just quicker and easier.

I don't use it when I'm not at home so I didn't want to spend a lot on features than weren't really necessary.

It doesn't like the tassels on the edge of my lounge rug too much, so I just roll up the edges and goes around them and I do the rug on the square setting later if need be.

I have two large dogs and one very moulting Labrador and it really makes a huge difference. It picks up hair very well.

It does mop but it's more like a wipe so I don't really use that feature.

It speaks to me, which is quite cute. It says things like 'help me' if it gets stuck. Or 'I'm heavy' if the bin is full. And you get googly eyes to stick on it. His name is Buster.

I run him each morning but you do need to do a deeper cleaner for carpets with a proper hoover every now and then.

I won't link where I bought it as I'm outside of UK but they are quite popular brand here.

I actually would argue our Neato D5 does do as good (possibly better) job than our full size Shark Vacuum. And we've had it for 3-4 years now.

The downsides are it's not great on edges and can't do stairs. But it honestly is as good as the full size in every other respect. It relies more heavily on the brush than the suction though so I do wonder what it would do on loop pile carpets as opposed to twist. We have beige twist pile carpets, two cats and a toddler so it's quite well tested and I very rarely get our main vac out now.

I don’t think anyone would pretend it’s better than a full wise vacuum. Fortunately we have wooden or tiled floors with a couple of v short pile rugs and a dog with relatively short fur and it seems to cope pretty well.

I am in the market for a new full size hoover though

I ordered a eufy RoboVac G10 with mop which should be arriving shortly. Got it for £100 from Amazon Warehouse. I'm super excited as I am sweeping my kitchen daily due to the kids!

I have a Eufy and I’m not overly impressed with it. It does quite well on hard floors but is rubbish on carpets. I vacuum properly a couple of times a week and sent the eufy round every day, but I have a dog and it more or less moves the hair around and doesn’t actually pick up much of it.

IMO the expensive ones aren’t any better than the cheap and cheerful ones. Prior to the eufy I had a Vileda one which I paid £35 for and it was no worse than the eufy.

you will likely get people here who rave about them and those who aren’t that impressed will feel they can’t speak out because of being the only ones iyswim.

I've had an eufy 30c max since last August. If/when it breaks I will be getting a new robovac immediately.

The Eufy G doesn't do mapping in the sense that it maps your house and you can send it to "kitchen", it just draws a map of where it has been on the app each time.
It also uses a Gyro navigation system so goes up and down in straight lines then round the edges rather than just utterly randomly like the 11/15/30 series.

I have no idea whether this is more effective.

We have a Neato D5 and it's absolutely great. I'd definitely get a D7 if I was buying new now though.
