Another fat summer

Feeling really low today, took toddler Dd shopping for summer clothes, some girls Dp and for myself. Got home and the denim shorts or jeans won’t do up. I bought size 16 deliberately fo have a bit of room.,they’re too tight, feel so shit.
I was a size 10 before fertility treatments and pregnancy, have never been this heavy.
I’ve had long covid since March so haven’t been exercising, although I desperately want to. We did a 10km bike ride at the weekend, and I’ve suffered for it all week.
So tired of hating the way I look. I’ve been using My fitness pal for ages now and no change, I walk our dog most days and am active chasing after a toddler.
I used to love clothes shopping, loved clothes and fashion, now it’s whatever doesn’t look too hideous.
What can I do, really sad that I miss out on family pics because I don’t want my photo taking and that I constantly feel uncomfortable in how I look.
What can I do

Although I really do sympathise and empathise OP, I urge you to ignore the 'fast' weight loss comments. A lot of my health issues stem from messing up my metabolism due to these. There is very interesting research into the biggest loser contestants and how the competition ended up really messing up with their metabolism, some of them were never able to return it to normal even with lots of Drs input. Generally the quicker you lose the quicker you gain it back.

Easier said than done but I am trying to stay positive and will be doing less carbs but staying reasonable.

Try the cambridge diet/ 1:1 diet for quick weightloss. Thats what im doing and hoping to lose around a stone a month.

Don’t resign yourself to staying fat. I was in the same position as you this time last year!! For some reason (actually I know it was tiredness and PND), I kept on 4 stone of pregnancy weight until my “baby” turned 2...

At the end of June (fed up of fat photos and not having any nice summer clothes) I started the Fast800 diet. I weighed 89kg (size 16, BMI obese). The plan was challenging for the first 4 days and then a breeze. You need to be strict with yourself, but ketosis is fabulous. I’d dropped to 72kg within a 3 months (there’s a meal plan at the back of the Fast800 cook book). I didn’t do anything other than walks with my toddler. I’ve kept off the weight and actually dropped to 69kg, a size 10 is snug but fits (still another 7kg to go till my goal weight). It’s made such a difference to how I feel and look. My knees no longer hurt lol and I can go down slides at the park and feel nice about myself again.

Give it a go. I bought the book on Amazon, got it delivered the next day and then wrote my shopping list. Good luck OP!

Before you think size 16 doesnt fir you but some clothing stores are absolutely diabolical with their sizing OP!! Their labels will state they are a certain size but they're more suitable for someone who are 1 or 2 dress sizes smaller. This could be the case where you purchased your clothes from. Please don't be to hard on yourself, I've put on weight during lockdown due to depression and started on my fitness pal, didn't loose any weight, what has helped is consuming a lot of vegetables with my meals and also to snack on, I've been also making meals from the pinch of nom books. I've not lost a lot but lost more than what I did with my fitness pal. Much love to you 💐

I feel the same OP. I had a pre assessment appointment today for an op im having and i have gained 20kg this last year. Size 16 is also feeling tight and I basically cried trying to put some jeans on, as like you, I got 16 with the plan of having room. Was also a size 12 before this. Sorry I don't have advice, but lots of empathy and sympathy.

Aaargh - I know that feeling all too well, getting a larger size so it will be roomy and finding it's too tight.

Can I recommend this thread :

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weight_loss_chat/4023261-Why-We-Eat-Too-Much

Have a look - I've lost over 1 1/2 stones doing this eating style (slowly and steadily) since the beginning of the year.

Well done on making the effort to do the bike ride, but you need to take it steady while you are recovering, especially as you are quite active with your dog and toddler. Little and often would be better than long-distance I should think.

And don't shy away from family pictures - you have no reason to be ashamed of how you look. In 10 years' time you'll see the picture and remember the occasion, what you looked like at the time won't matter.

Imagine thinking you’re hideous because you’ve put some weight on.

You’ve brought a baby into the world. You’ve got long Covid. Maybe just chill and learn to love yourself.

Long covid is utterly miserable and it’s totally understandable you’ve struggled to lose weight. Flowers

I would try and focus on eating as healthily as you can to feel better rather than necessarily losing weight. Loads of veg, lean protein, measured complex carbs etc.

Totally get where your coming from, one of my friends has had long covid and the impact on her a year on is ridiculous.

I can sympathise from the baby perspective, this week I’m sorting myself out. Reducing portion sizes and a calorie defecit. I’m hungry but I’d rather lose weight and can cope with being hungry
