AIBU?

So rude of DH

SmellyDogBed · 23/09/2020 21:55

We briefly visited my grandmother earlier to take her some shopping. She got a big box of broken biscuits out and DH ripped into the box, complained that it was “full of custard creams” and just started throwing them onto the coffee table saying “these can get to fuck” whilst hunting for a specific type of biscuit. It’s not the swearing that got me ( my grandma swears more than I do) but literally chucking unwanted biscuits onto the table?? I told him I thought he was being rude and he says I am over reacting as my grandma wasn’t bothered but she clearly wasn’t happy as she marched into the kitchen to grab a packet of Ringtons instead. Aibu thinking he was rude?? I’d never do that in front of his family. He’s refusing to acknowledge it now and has got a face on over it. I’m so embarrassed.

Very rude... Did no one ever teach him any manners? But quite funny. I don't like custard creams either.

@yorkiepuddies Assume the OP’s fella is scottish. It’s a Scot slang phrase/cuss, basically the same as “get yourself fucked off” or a simple “fuck off”.

Wow. Good luck with that. He sounds like a right bell ...

Urgh on saying 'Get to fuck'. What does that even mean? Is fuck an actual place now?

I want to see this made into a short sketch for TV.

She buys broken biscuits (cheap) and Ringtons (not cheap). I wouldn’t have got the Ringtons out for him, there’s a reason she gave him the broken biscuits.

Sounds very Royale family to me but I don't think even Jim would do that to Nana. Maybe make sarky comments when you got home. Unless it was a personal insult to offer him them, your poor Nan! He needs to learn some manners. Let him sulk, you know you're right.

If he'd have done that in front of my grandmother, with her biscuits, she would probably have put them back in the box and then rammed said box up his arse sideways.
While telling him to get to fuck herself.
😂 At ops DH.

Waste of perfectly good custard creams Hmm

Broken biscuits are ace though, a bit of mystery and a big bag usual full of the M&S/finest stuff as they use them to get rid of over production.

Got a 1kg bag once that was litteraly all caramel rockey bars with no wrappers Grin.

Weirdly I notice they're a middle class thing, my working class friends think theyre cheap

Elsewyre · 24/09/2020 03:19

I could get it if it's a bit of a family in joke and the throwing was onto a plate/biscuit tin, but surely lobbing broken custard creams onto a table top makes a hell of a mess?

@BigBadVoodooHat

Is this the same poster who has been relentlessly starting weird, vaguely gibberishy threads over the last few days ~ ones about unexpected gifts, drunk plumbers, rogue tenants, etc? Confused

@BigBadVoodooHat drunk plumber poster has different name?

Grin “these can get to fuck.”

😂 this is something people might think in their head, but they don’t say it out loud to granny.

And as for granny being rude given broken biscuits to visitors (someone wrote) I did lmao.

We used to be sent a box of broken biscuits every Xmas by my (very wealthy) paternal grandmother. Peak Freans. Mostly they tasted stale, but we didn't get many treats in those days so they got eaten.

I think your dh was rude, unless they were both laughing while he did it.
