AIBU?

Probably petty as hell but AIBU? Diagram included!

Our brown bin was lost/stolen and I have ordered a replacement and waiting for it to come.

DC recently got a large birthday present that came in a tall cardboard box. I have put said box outside propped up against the wall in our back yard whilst I wait for the new bin as there was no where in the house for it and I don't have a car to tip it at the moment.

The yard at the back of our house is owned by us, it's in our title deeds but our neighbours have right of way to access their backdoor (diagram attached!).

My neighbour has taken it upon herself to move this cardboard, more than once, and literally stand it against our back door so it blocks the door/falls into the house whenever you open the door.

I have already explained that I'm waiting for a new bin so I can get rid of it just a few days ago. It's been out there for no more than 5 days.

I get it may be a bit of an eyesore but it is 100% not blocking their access when propped in-between our black bin and wall as per the picture.

As the yard is technically ours, AIBU for 1. Leaving it there until the bin comes and 2. Asking her to bloody leave it alone?! I'd understand if I'd shoved a load of rubbish into the middle of the yard and left it there for months but this is neatly tucked away and I've already explained why it's there!

Why is nobody more concerned about her unsupportive DH??

Is he like this in other aspects of your relationship too? If he can't support you with something like this I'd be worried about if he supports you at all...

YANBU but OP I must ask, since you have told her the situation, has she done it again?

If not, it's now a complete non issue and time to move on.

There should be a right of common access path defined in your land registry, they have no business straying from this defined path.

If the cardboard is not on this area or causing an obstruction they need to be told not to touch it and that they can't - shes being an arse!

Get a blink camera installed to watch what they are up to when your not there.

Some people missing the point here..it's your yard.. fuck all to do with her what you've got in it..and she certainly has no right to touch anything belonging to you..even if it is rubbish!

Cut it into small pieces and post them through her letterbox, the mardy bint

I think the best I would do is simply rip up the large box into small pieces and put it into a plastic bag!

I would hover at the tip until someone dumps a shitty red carpet, lay it in the route she takes and make a cardboard arch with a gnome guard of honour all along it. I'd put a f**king movement sensor so that the whole thing lights up and plays "the stripper" at full volume every time she moves a muscle. She may have "access" but she'd not tell me what to keep in my yard 🤣

1 tell it to leave alone
2 if it re-enters your property, sue it for tresspass

Hmmmm - maybe not living creatures then.

I think maybe what you need is some sort of speaker that is in the box. Keep watch by the window with a mic, and everytime she goes near it just say "DON'T". You'd probably need a voice changer too.

If you are on a tight budget then the above solution isn't going to be possible, but you could either learn ventriloquism (from YouTube), or maybe you have a friend who is already a ventriloquist? That would have the added benefit of a deeply creepy doll too.

My favourite one from OFITG was when he asked someone to put a plant that had been delivered in the downstairs loo and they actually planted it in the toilet.

I still think you should mail her the box and then when she inevitably puts it back by your door you can accuse her of littering your property.

I loved One Foot in the Grave when Victor got 100 gnomes instead of 1. They were everywhere waiting to be collected.

I am a bit baffled.. please confirm..

1: The entire yard is yours, you may if you wish, decorate yard with boxes all over, as long as they do not impede her access to her door.

2: You had tidied the box away for the sake of neat and tidyness, and she keeps moving it from whence it is neat and tidy, to place it elsewhere because... she doesn't like boxes to be put away tidy?

I think I would write FUCK THE FUCK OFF on one side of the box, and on the other 'STILL FUCK THE FUCK OFF' on the other.

I would also knock on the door and enquire as to whether she realises it IS your yard and you CAN put boxes where you'd like within it.

Pets at Home sell insects, but not advisable to let them loose though. I often wanted to rescue them and let them free but I know they would destroy the word, or at least part of it. Poor little things, kept in boxes and then they have reduced stickers put on them.

In the olden days, you used to be able to order live locusts/similar buzzy things from Exchange and Mart don't ask why I know this

If that is still possible, fill the box with them and wait for her to move it.
