I have NC’d for this... thought it would be funny off the back of the “what class are you thread?”

Have you ever calculated your net worth?
How much is cash?

Having a quick think between properties and savings we are at about 650k ...55k is cash savings, another 50k is shares and investments

How is this funny?

I'm with the majority of people here I'm afraid. Bad taste. Really bad taste.

If this is an insight into the kind of person you are I think you're missing some humility and compassion.

Merry Xmas all Xmas Smile

Piss off, OP.

Oh bog off OP. I'd rather be broke than have your "net worth" and be posting about it on christmas eve. Get a life!
Oh and in answer to the question... about £20 and a couple of guinea pigs. #blessed

It’s so sad that this is the kind of thing you think about on Christmas Eve, when so many have so very little.

It’s not a ‘fun’ thread. It’s a thoughtless thread which gives those with money a chance to show off and those without the opportunity to feel even crapper about themselves.

Why you would want to come onto MN to brag about how much money you have (anonymously) to then compare yourself to strangers is just beyond comprehension.

‘Net worth’? How do you actually value yourself?? And does adding a crass post like this on Xmas eve make you feel better about yourself? If so, perhaps a revisit of life’s priorities might be on the list of NY resolutions?

I do think it’s not a great thread for Christmas Eve to be honest OP. Quite insensitive. Many people are really struggling financially. It just seems off to have started such a discussion regarding significant capital assets when so many don’t have anything.

If this is your idea of a fun activity you must live a very different life to most people I'd say..

Crass and tasteless

I couldn’t sleep at night if I had just the OP’s funds Grin

What an awful post on Christmas Eve when many people have struggled and even got into debt to provide a memorable day for their family

Money deffo doesn’t buy you class or sensitivity it seems

Terribly vulgar to discuss money, OP - extremely non-U.

And extremely distasteful when there are people posting today about their money worries too - but "what fun!" hey?

I'd say,.conservatively, about 90% of people on this thread are lying though their eye teeth, and the rest have declined to say.
What the hell is fun (or funny) about bragging about how much money you have?
Have some class and keep that stuff to yourself.

The most valuable thing I own is worth under £1k and I have even less in cash. If my flat burned down it could all be replaced for under £10k I think.

If you’re bragging.. we have considerably more than this. If you’re not... then I think that your post is a tad mean when so many folk have absolutely nothing.
Maybe start a direct debit, like we do to charities who would welcome some of your excess cash.
Unimpressed.

Some one spending 100quid to fill their fridge is completely different to bragging about thousands in savings. Crass. Not surprised you name changed.

Report
Africa2go · 24/12/2019 18:41

You'd need quite a big fridge to show a net worth of about £650k though, wouldnt you OP? Hmm

Report
Sparklesocks · 24/12/2019 18:40

There’s a bit of a difference between ‘I have a nice ham and salmon in my fridge’ to ‘I have tens of thousands in savings’ though.
