AIBU?

To wonder if PW and KM would have pinned their childrens’ ears pinned....

...if necessary?

We all know that Prince Charles he has sticky out ears.

Why weren’t they fixed in childhood? He had braces for his teeth - why not his ears?

And if George; Charlotte; Louis; Archie et al had sticky out ears, would the modern RF correct them?

Also forgot to add that my mother was obsessed with my ears as a child and I had an op to have them pinned back when I was 7.

Whilst I am thankful for that, I wonder if I would have even cared if she hadn’t?

Who cares?

Personally I am very much of the view that anything like that should only be done if the individual wants it done. I had mine done at 10 but it was my choice not my parents.

@Sirzy

That’s interesting you say it was your decision.

Do you mind if I ask you how that came about?
Did you ask your parents or did they suggest it and ask you what you wanted to do?

In my own experience, my mother was obsessed with my ears and as soon as I was old enough, I had them pinned back. I didn’t really have a choice. I was taught to be ashamed of them for as long as I can remember and was grateful when they were fixed.

I thought he wanted them pinned and the queen refused and it was something else he got bullied over in secondary school. But for the life of me can’t remember where I read this (useful)
I’d have thought so (the modern royal family I mean) and also things like braces too.

His ears are fine. Your post makes you sound like a fascist tbh. Have you always wanted to make people homogenous or is this a new thing?

Why weren’t they fixed in childhood?

Because they were not broken.

*Her obsession has affected you rather badly

Probably not, if she hasn't been obsessed you may have been quite happy with your ears.

Sorry for your experience OP.

To be honest I very rarely notice anyone's ears. I don't think PC's ears are a problem? I mean the world would be quite boring if we all looked the same.

People / the media have poked fun at him, all his life because of that. His parents knew he'd be in the public eye all his life - they were very wrong to decline to fix it.

Don't be so ridiculous. The fault lies with the people who 'poke the fun' - what's with you blaming the parents rather than the people who have acted in a nasty way Hmm

The aristocracy historically have considered cosmetic surgery as a bit common. Certainly when Prince Charles was a child it would have been unheard of.

It come from the confidence/arrogance of titled people. They don't feel the need to conform to popular ideas about looks or to be interested in high fashion.

Missing the point here but my ears stick out terribly. I’d have loved it if my mother had got mine sorted. Bane of my life - especially for haircuts

I have one slightly sticky outy ear. Nowhere near as prominent as Prince Charles' ears and I got teased about it a lot. I begged to get it fixed so my mum relented and took me to the GP but he said it wasn't bad enough to do anything with. I barely notice it now though.

Don't they just use tape to stick them down during babyhood nowadays, with a little cotton wool roll in the crease to stop it getting too flat?

Personally, I would rather teach my children not to be ashamed of the way they look.

Sometimes braces are needed because teeth are going to be painful and/or more vulnerable to decay when they are badly misaligned. I wouldn't have them just for cosmetic reasons. It's okay that people don't all look identical.

Define 'necessary'

It's up to an individual to decide whether they dislike a part of themselves enough to do something about it, hopefully not because their appearance has been commented on by others. I despise this pressure to look 'perfect'.
